Strangely enough the area where I do show age is my hands. The skin is loose on them. I don't have age-spots yet thankfully, but the skin does look crepey and loose. The skin isn't dry as I moisturise but certainly looks wrong. Shame really!

My dad's side is Scots-Irish. Auburn hair is common on that side of my family.

I'm Scots too; allegedly on both sides. We've traced our family history back to the Battle of Killiecrankie. But my whole family has dark hair, dark brown eyes, olive skin tone. Go figger! We have been in the US since the early 1700s, and in Texas since the early 1800s (before it was part of the US), so I wouldn't be shocked to learn that we have a few drops of native American or Mexican blood. My blood type is B+, which is a very rare blood type for people of European ancestry but is somewhat more common in Asians and Native Americans, which sort of supports that theory.

My mom's side only recently came to the US, but my dad's side has been here since the 1700s. These sites explain it better than I can:

Scottish Tartans Museum

Scots to Colonial North Carolina Before 1775

Fascinating! We came to North Carolina in the 1700s as well! I wonder if that was where most Scots ended up.
Then in the early 1800s Mexico started giving away land grants in Texas to anglo settlers- Texas was overrun by Comanche Indians at the time, and most Mexicans did not want to live there because it was so wild and dangerous- so my family moved to Texas and ended up ranching and cotton farming.

I wonder if we are somehow distantly related. LOL Probably not tho. None of my family went to Texas. Half of them went to Tennesse and the other half went to Alabama and Florida. Some kind of split, I guess. That's all I know. My uncle is OCD about this kind of stuff. He also found that some of our ancestors were Creek Indian, albeit a small portion.
