No, you did not know it already. You may have had an opinion than ended up being confirmed by the study, but that is far different from knowing something beyond a shadow of a doubt without any scientific evidence.

We have these studies for as reason.

But since some of the members here at PW are so much more smarter than scientists who spend decades on research, I will refrain from posting any more articles regarding scientific studies since people here already know everything.
Perhaps that would be for the best, if you do not intend for the articles you post on a debate forum to incite discussion and debate.
Perhaps you'd be more comfortable on some other type of forum.
You seem awfully damned thin-skinned to be spending time on a debate site lately. I like you a lot, but I'm tired of tiptoeing around you and being snapped at, and I don't think I'm alone.

I've noticed that if news is slow, there will be "breaking" science or health news. Sometimes if a person is personally acquainted with a subject they will already know.

Thank your lucky stars I didn't just reply, "Well we are the smarter gender".

Yes. I did. My doc put me on the pill when I was a teen specifically to ease the pain of my periods that kept me bed ridden for days each month. My mother was put on the pill many years after her tubes were tied for the same reason. They advertise that the pills will ease the pain of periods, it's one of the selling points of the pill. Because, like 10 said... you don't HAVE a ****ing period. So of course it eases the pain of periods since it prevents you from having them in the first place.

LOL. You got me there. Cannot argue that point.

I think we should end all scientific studies and just ask Riverrat everything since she is so much smarter than real scientists who spend decades on research and millions among millions of dollars each year.

Scientific research? Nah. Riverrat felt better after taking the pill so obviously it eases the pain.

I am thankful we have members who know everything. This is going to save me tons of time on the next research contract I receive. I will just email Riverrat. She has all the answers. No research necessary!

I guess scientists are now obsolete with Riverrat and her vast, infinite knowledge running around. I wish I were as smart as her and did not require facts for my conclusions.

I will bow out of yet another thread since Riverrat has this under control and is smarter than everyone else.

You're right: you are not a pleasant drunk. Quit being a jerk.
Take a couple of aspirin and go to bed, and we can laugh about this in the morning.

He's never NOT been an ass to me. I just ignore it, like I do other jerks.

Not to beat a dead horse, but look: from the Mayo Clinic website (I assume everyone considers the Mayo Clinic reputable?)-

Traditional birth control pills mimic a regular 28-day monthly cycle. For the first 21 days, you take active pills containing reproductive hormones. For the last seven days, you take placebos. While you're taking the placebo pills, you bleed vaginally, as if you were having a regular menstrual period. By contrast, extended-cycle birth control pills contain active hormones for every day of the month.

Okay?
So I fail to see how "Birth Control Pills make periods less painful" is big smart important scientific news.
Everybody already knows that birth control pills stop the menstrual cycle altogether, and that women on birth control pills don't have periods.

I'm no scientist but I concur. My daughter took them for that reason and I remember talk about it (at my doctor's office or with women friends) when my sister was young and that has been awhile back.

Back when I was 17, I was put on BC pills to alleviate HORRENDOUS menstrual cramps, the kind that would fell a bull elephant. I would have to assume they did that with some sort of knowledge that it would work, which it did.

Perhaps this study was a formal confirmation of something the medical world (and the female population) already knew, but didn't have stats for the NEJM.

I enjoy your posts on scientific info, this just happens to be one subject alot of us already knew.
