I think the CAN be helpful, but I also think many women would use this for the wrong reasons...

They'll end up attempting to have a child based on their body instead of basing it on when the rest of their life is ready...

Maybe that would be a good idea, maybe not. But it occurs to me that in many other ways, most of us are aging much more slowly than our grandparents. So, if a young woman could freeze some of her ova, and keep them safe from chemical or radiant damage, she might then be able to begin having children at a later age, more conductive to her career and lifestyle.

(I'm a great believer in the benefits of having somewhat older parents.)
Dude, do you really want to be raising teenagers when you're 60 or 70?

Better think about it first.

As Salty said, messing with Mother Nature can have some serious, major, tragic backlashes. Besides, who wants to get their period when they're 60?

There are tests that check hormone balances to indicate when a woman is going into peri-menopause. More for making medical decisions than childbearing decisions.

They say agood judge of when it's going to happen is by the womans' mother. If she was early or late onset, chances are the daughter will be too.

My brother became a dad for the first time whe he was 51. His wife is several years younger than him, so it wasn't a problem for her. She now threatens him that he must stay alive until he's 75 so he can see his son graduate high school, or she'll kill him.

I'm almost 50 and I go hoe to an empty room.

Since I'm from long-lived stock, I have a good chance of outliving all the friends of my youth.

I've never married, I have no children, I have few close friends even now.

When I die, people are only likely to attend my funeral out of a sense of duty.

Yeah, I believe I'd be very glad to have teenagers in my 60's or 70's.

Now you feel bad don't you?

Sorry, I'm a buzzkill.

Why would anyone attend your funeral out of a sense of duty if you have no friends?

And I don't think it's unusual you're not the social butterfly. Look at where you live,

But which came first - the solitude or location? One must first have the personality to handle it, and in all honesty, OC has that particular type of personality that either SHOULD be alone, or kept away from sharp objects.

Just sayin......

I'm 55, and have already outlived most of my long term friends.

I never married and have no children, but I'm now in a relationship with someone with four kids, two of which are preteen. She's several years younger than I.

I come from some long-lived stock too, my one aunt lived to 104.

When I die, the first one to show up gets everything I own! Ain't much!

Teenagers bug the crap out of me.

And, no, I don't feel bad at all.
