Default Beto Puts Target On Mom and Pop Gun Stores

While I know that Robert Francis O'Rourke has as much a chance of occupying the WH as I do, his rhetoric is dangerous and should be called out.

Quote:
Not only are national Democrats and candidates for office pressuring corporations to discourage open or conceal carry options in stores, they are threatening to undermine commerce mom and pop gun stores legally engage in.

Former Texas Congressman and current Democrat presidential candidate Robert “Beto” Francis O’Rourke is placing a target on their backs ahead of tonight’s debate in Houston, Texas. Ghoulish.

In a series of tweets, O’Rourke threatened credit card companies for engaging in commerce with gun stores.

He tweeted, “Credit cards have enabled many of America’s mass shootings in the last decade—and with Washington unwilling to act, they need to cut off the sales of weapons of war today.”

➖ assault weapon sales
➖ sales w/o background checks
➖ gun/ammo manufacurturers who producing assault weapons

Banks and credit card companies must:
1⃣Refuse to take part in the sale of assault weapons.
2⃣Stop processing transactions for gun sales online & at gun shows without background checks.
3⃣Stop doing business with gun & ammo manufacturers who produce or sell assault weapons
This is dangerous turf, dear Resurgent readers. And all part of their confiscation scheme. Beto’s efforts demonstrate an unserious approach to tackling gun violence by going after law-abiding citizens and small businesses who aren’t complicit in mass shootings.

Some banking institutions like Citigroup, sadly, have adopted a pro-gun control agenda through their 2018 U.S. Commercial Firearms Policy. More banking institutions may cave to the likes of Beto, which would be a grave mistake.

Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) issued this warning against social corporate activism and why this move undermines commerce:
As I have read from your executive’s blog post addressing the new direction Citi is taking, it seems you want to do your part to change American society positively. I applaud that goal and share your belief that it’s vital to our societal and cultural growth. However, I strongly object to cracking down on gun manufacturers, sellers, and owners when you have such significant opportunity to “do your part” in other areas of your business.

It feels like yesterday when Citi received nearly half a trillion dollars in taxpayer-backed guarantees and cash after putting the entire financial system at risk. In fact, the 10th anniversary of the largest government bailout in American history is just around the corner. I hope you will focus on properly running your business and addressing apparent shortcomings like overcharging credit card interest rates to account holders and compliance with U.S. anti-money laundering laws. Those are real ways to “do your part” that would make a difference.

The very fact that Citi remains operational is due entirely to the generosity of the American taxpayers.
Senator Kennedy and his colleague from North Dakota, Senator Cramer, proposed the Freedom Financing Act, S. 821 aimed at stripping large banks of taxpayer-funded insurance should they refuse service to “firearms businesses that are constitutionally-protected and compliant with all laws and statutes.”

More on Senate Bill 821 from National Shooting Sports Foundation’s (NSSF) Larry Keane:
In response, Sens. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) and John Kennedy (R-La.) recently introduced the Freedom Financing Act, S. 821, which would strip large banks of taxpayer-funded insurance if they deny service to firearms businesses that are constitutionally-protected and compliant with all laws and statutes.

These senators are speaking out for responsible gun owners, gun manufacturers and firearm retailers threatened by big banks. Those banks are taking up a social activist mantle, mandating that the firearms industry follow baseless rules – even after those rules have been rejected in the legitimate policy process.

It’s not new. During the Obama administration, an initiative known as Operation Choke Point (OCP) was initiated wherein federal banking regulators leveraged a “reputational risk” criteria to pressure banks to cut ties with lawful businesses including the firearms industry. The administration’s problem was they didn’t like guns.
Are there any courageous, pro-Second Amendment Democrats left who can rein in the party? This effort by Beto and company should be wholly rejected and opposed.

The basement child Beto would not know a "weapon of war" from a roll of toilet paper.

He is treading on very dangerous ground. He is promoting the idea that corporations discriminate against people based on their purchases, and also based on vendors who sell LEGAL GOODS.

So, as it stands, he is pumping out a lot of hot air to appeal to a certain group. Like any politician would, and it seems there are people who will swallow it hook, line and sinker.

Exactly. That is the scary part of this story. While RFO is most likely going to fall well short of ever becoming President, many of the crazy and leftist ideas he is promoting could become popular on the left and find their way into policy. That is a dangerous precedent.
