Default Dick's Sporting Goods took $150 million hit after restricting gun sales. CEO says it

No one is fooled by this CEO's comments. Of course he cares they just lost 150 million. If he really doesn't then he's the world's worst CEO.

Dick's Sporting Goods took $150 million hit after restricting gun sales. CEO says it was all worth it.

Quote:
In response to the horrific 2018 February school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, Dick's Sporting Goods announced it would no longer sell "assault-style" weapons in its stores. The merchant scrapped rifles and shotguns altogether and refused to sells firearms to customers under the age of 21.

Stack told ABC News at the time, "Based on what's happened and looking at those kids and those parents, it moved us all unimaginably."

According to Bloomberg, that was a costly decision. The firm took a $150 million loss over the course of 2018. But, considering that was only 1.7 percent of Dick's annual revenue, Stack said the drop in revenue was just the cost of doing what's right.

who really cares. its a free country. he can sell whatever's legal and choose not to sell whatever he wants.
if he was forcing employees who want health insurance to conform to his beliefs, you'd be all up in his corner. haha

Really? So the owner of a bakery can be subjected to huge fines for refusing to customize a cake for a same sex wedding, the 14th amendment, but the sporting goods store is free to impose extra restrictions on firearms sales ignoring the second amendment.

religion- specifically the christian religion is protected if a christian business owner wants to discriminate ie catholic colleges; ie hobby lobby. That is the example I gave. you on the other hand whine and pee through your eyes cause you wanna force more business owners to adhere to your politics and beliefs against the constitution.
sucks to be ya.

11) First, the Christian religion is protected no more or less than any other by the Constitution. In point of fact, it was White Christian founders who insisted that be so.
2) No Conservative want business owners to adhere to their politics and beliefs "against" the Constitution. Business owners instead all want people to be free to chose for their own reasons. And would appreciate the same rights themselves.
3) Dicks sporting goods boycott was about Firearms, not religion. No one took them to court because they refuse to sell certain products to anyone. Sportsman refused to frequent their store because Dick's put undue restrictions on the products they wanted. They frequented instead, stores that didn't.

The effect was a $150 million short fall from sales expectations.

wrong, due to their evangelical base political Conservatives fight tooth and nail for preference for Christians specifically evangelical Christians whose "beliefs" are floating and of a wide variety compared to more conservative (small 'c') christian religions.

And that is Dick's prerogative.
Looks like we agree by 75%

We don't insist Kosher butchers sell bacon. But somehow we find legal grounds When Christian baker's don't want to produce wedding cakes decorated for gays and lesbians. And in court, the bakery did win, validating their civil rights. The baker went broke, not because of lost business, but paying legal bills

Nobody sued Dick's for refusing to sell a legal product to a customer of legal age and qualifications. They lost business because the consumers decided.

<AS IT SHOULD BE> A point you clearly refuse to see.

As for religion, the Founders wanted a "wall of separation" between the government and the Church to protect the civil rights of the church. Not to protect the government. No mention of "evangelical," "catholic" or otherwise can be found in the text of the Constitution, or the Federalist papers which explain the purpose of each word and phrase in the founding documents. Making up such crap does little to add validity to your arguments.

you should have quit while I was ahead

freedom of religion was put in the constitution so that folks could be heretics (baptists ) if they wanted and the church of England or anyone else couldn't fault them for it.
it's practically how Georgia was populated.
