Thumbs down Levi Strauss CEO Paying Employees to ‘Volunteer’ for Gun-Control Organizations

I wonder if this anti-Second Amendment policy will cause their stock to drop, which is what happened when Dick's turned its back on many of its customers after adopting anti-gun policies.

Quote:
In the best attempt to date to unseat Edward Stack as the nation’s Virtue Signaler in Chief, Levi Strauss’s CEO Chip Bergh bravely announced this week his company’s support of “youth activists” working to end the “gun violence epidemic” in America and encouraged other “business leaders” to do the same.

“As business leaders with power in the public and political arenas, we simply cannot stand by silently when it comes to the issues that threaten the very fabric of the communities where we live and work,” he said in a recent op-ed published by Fortune. “While taking a stand can be unpopular with some, doing nothing is no longer an option.”

Naming his brand among the “pioneers of the American West” and the “great symbols of American freedom,” Bergh outlines three ways he’s hoping to restrict the constitutional rights of his fellow Americans.

First, he plans to establish the Safer Tomorrow Fund, which will dole out $1 million in “philanthropic grants” to “nonprofits and youth activists who are working to end gun violence in America.”

Next, Bergh and his company will join Everytown for Gun Safety’s new Business Leaders for Gun Safety coalition. Roughly paraphrasing Everytown’s website, this group is working to join banks and other businesses doing their darndest to bankrupt gun companies and marginalize gun owners.

Finally, Bergh hopes to incentivize his employees to join him in his righteous crusade. Levi Strauss will double its usual employee donation match to anti-gun organizations and pay employees for sixty working hours per year (5 hours per month) to volunteer for the same organizations.

“We’re encouraging our employees to use their time to make an impact,” he said. https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/l...TvAv-Vz3HuK_Vk
This attempt to curtail the rights of responsible gun owners whenever a criminal commits a heinous crime with a gun is the very opposite of the "great symbol of American freedom" that the CEO claims his company represents.

Probably not. Part of Dick's customers were hunters who tend to be very pro-2nd amendment. Dicks pissed on them by catering to anti-2nd amendment trash by not selling semiautomatic firearms under the guise of not selling "assault weapons" and stopped selling firearms to adults 18 to 20 years of age. It would amount to a smoke shop to quit selling flavored tobacco products or raise age of the adults they sell tobacco products to because they wanted to cater to anti-smoking nazis. Levis as far as I know a good chunk of Levi's customers are not 2nd amendment advocates.

Don't like it, let them know with your dollar.

Many companies will 'pay' their employees for volunteer time in certain organizations. I'm sure with a little research, we would likely find that Levi Strauss includes other organizations on their list like Habitat for Humanity or local community groups.

But the anti-gun angle is what makes this 'news'. Reduction of gun violence organizations are not necessarily all about encumbering legal gun owners, but teaching people to be more observant of the people around them, and perhaps notating when someone is acting irrationally.

Levi Strauss is not listed. They've been private for a couple decades.

They applied for relisting on the NYSE with an IPO of 100 million in February. March-April probably. I would guess being anti second would not help the stock.

Interesting timing.

I disagree with your last paragraph. Everything in the link stinks of anti-Second Amendment crap straight from the CEO.

Bottom line, I hope every entity that has a thing going to "prevent gun violence" loses business to the point of bankruptcy.
