Seaside High teacher accidentally fires gun in class, students injured

Fire him!

Three rules for teachers or school officials who carry at school:
1. They must be certified with proper training.
2. They must have their gun on their person at all times if they bring it to school.
3. Their gun must remain in the holster at all times while at school unless being used in an emergency situation in defense of self or others.

Breaking any of the three rules should be a fire-able offense.

The schools don't need dumbasses carrying firearms for school protection. The schools do need professionally trained armed people.

No...

If you're going to use the gun as a demonstration piece to a class, you make sure it's unloaded BEFORE you get to the class, you king-sized dipsh*t!...

This was not an "accident", it was negligence.

Dumbass move #1: Not realizing his gun was loaded.
Dumbass move #2: Unintentional discharge of a weapon. The trigger had to be pulled for the weapon to fire; this is a very unique way to check the load/unload status of a weapon.
Dumbass move #3: Intending to bring an unloaded weapon for protection of himself and others. Guns make very poor clubs; bring a ball bat for brain bashing.

This idiot should not possess sharp pencils.

From the article it appears he brought the gun to school to give a class on "gun safety"; not for protection.

Not saying he isn't an idiot. Just a different kind of idiot.

#1. First and foremost. Most people get a Darwin Award for this.

Last I looked, guns don't fire themselves.
Media (liberals) portraying a false narrative yet again.
Kind of funny (funny odd, not funny haha) how all of the sudden, after talk about arming teachers, liberal teachers suddenly start having guns magically go off in schools.

The gun was not in school because of the "arming teachers" initiative. It was there as part of a "gun safety" lesson. They usually have police officers come into the schools and give these lessons. In this case because the teacher in question was also a police officer, they had him performing the duty.

But lets be clear, even without the arming teachers initiative; even if guns were completely banned, as a police officer, this individual would be able to bring a gun into the school.

Guns going off during these "gun safety" demonstrations happens surprisingly often. They always get a bit of press, but not the national attention this incident is getting. The reason this is get so much attention is because of the initiative to arm teachers.

The difference between this situation and having armed teachers is simple. A teacher who is armed in school, should NEVER have their gun out of their holster in the school unless using it in a situation where they are protecting themselves or others from serious physical harm or death.

Removing the gun to load/unload it, show to students, or mess around with it while on school grounds should be a fire-able offense.

If the left wants to talk about discontinuing "gun safety" demonstrations because they are ironically "too dangerous", that's a discussion I'm sure we can have.
