Default Phoenix man posts photos of giving up his guns, gets death threats

I suspect that this is nothing more than a PR stunt. There are no pictures of the alleged threatening posts and he claimed he took down the posts. So there is no way of verifying if anyone actually threatened him. He thinks a Ruger 10/22 is a big machine gun. Thus demonstrating his lack of knowledge of guns. He claims he did it to take the guns out of hands of one less civilian. But the police are going to sell the guns to a civilian.I am sure the police told him that they were going to be sold to civilians after checks were done to make sure the guns were not involved in any criminal activity. Why would any self respecting gun owner announce the whole world that they are now unarmed? I suspect that after the Las Vegas shooting he or someone else bought the cheapest scariest looking guns he could quickly get for the publicity stunt.

When Jonathan Pring posted images on Facebook showing the moment he went from being a current gun owner to a former gun owner, he knew he’d get some response.

What he didn’t expect was for the post to go viral.

"I didn't wake up yesterday planning to become the local Phoenix poster child for the American gun debate,” Pring said.

The pictures show Pring willingly handing over his firearms, which included a machine gun and a pistol, to a uniformed Phoenix police officer in the living room of his Phoenix home.

Pring, who’s a dual citizen of the U.S. and Great Britain, said he called the department’s non-emergency number asking to hand over his guns to them after watching the horror unfold in Las Vegas this week.

Are you saying that the rifle is a Ruger 10/22 with an aftermarket stock system that gives it an AK appearance? I think the article wrongly says "machine gun" and is propaganda. Mr. Pring is free to turn in his guns and buy a baseball bat and he is free to pose as a poster child.

I've noticed the bat mentioned and shown in movies and stories where a home defense situation appears. I've always wondered why a baseball bat is the weapon of choice of anti-gun people? You weenies out there, please don't retort with a silly question like, "where do you get those statistics?" I wish I had a Ruger 10/22, but that's above my budget.

I don't think that owning or not owning a firearm makes someone a "weenie" or a tough guy. It's interesting that some of the protesters that took over Evergreen College were carrying bats as weapons and objects of intimidation. I also don't think that Mr. Pring voluntarily handing several legal guns over to the cops makes him a more than admirable citizen or an example to us all. Under what program, I wonder, did the police come to his door, accept his donation, and pose for a picture?

The photo shown is that of an old fashioned cloth case used for sporting hunting style weapons, not machine guns. Plus 1 pistol in another photo. I don't recognize the gun in the photo, but I don't think it's a machine gun.

Mr. Pring said one of the guns was an automatic. I have heard no confirmation. You don't just walk into a Wallyworld and pick yourself up a Thompson. The process takes a year, not to mention thousands of dollars for the purchase. Casual gun owners don't own autos. More than likely, that's your tenth, not your second, firearms purchase.

I give this one a few Pinoccios.

I'm not picking on the people who don't own or even want a firearm. That's their business. I'm picking on the annoying monkeys that want to butt into pro-gun people's business regarding firearms. If you don't know by now, I don't own any firearms, except two pellet guns-> a .177 pump and a .22 spring.

I'd like to know also, where, in the name of Zeus's butthole, did you think any pro-gun person thought owning a firearm made him tough. That is what anti-gun weenies think. Or that people who own firearms have short penis complex. Never mind that the number of women buying firearms is rising. I don't think they are insecure about their penises.

Not a lot of it makes much sense.

I know a number of people who have decided to get a firearm after many years of being indifferent to the threat to their own safety and to the 2nd Amend. For some others, pepper spray and tasers are part of their defense. The trend seems to favor owning a gun rather than voluntarily handing lawful guns over to the government. I wonder if Mr. Pring will be making talk show appearances?

All one needs to do is walk into a busy gun dealer's showroom on a Saturday morning and compare the sales to the number of persons turning in their weapons nationwide. Like one per minute to one per ever.

Sales spike after a mass shooting. Not decline, and it's not bubba loading up on AK's. There's a reason small pistols come in pink.

So they can find them at the bottom of their purse.
