Clinton Praises Australian Gun Buyback Program

Quote:
Hillary Clinton said that a gun buyback measure similar to the one implemented in Australia ďwould be worth consideringĒ at the national level on Friday.

Clinton was asked at a New Hampshire town hall whether she thought an Australian-style policy could be implemented in the U.S.

ďRecently, Australia managed to get away, or take away tens of thousands, millions of handguns. In one year, they were all gone. Can we do that? If we canít, why canít we?Ē A New Hampshire man asked Clinton.

ďI think thatís worth considering. I do not know enough detail to tell you how we would do it, or how would it work, but certainly your example is worth looking at,Ē Clinton said.

The Australia example is a favorite with politicians who favor stricter gun control measures, although rarely is it mentioned that Australiaís 1996 buyback was coerciveóalthough citizens were compensated for their firearms, it was more accurately a program to confiscate firearms, particularly rifles.

You didn't pay attention to the story. They want to ban the replicas because they have been used in robberies and because a 14 year old was shot by police who didn't know it wasn't real. It's not because they are anti gun. Use some reason

No, I mean all of her comments. Not from some right wing site that cherry picks. The Free Beacon? Give me her actual full comments.

Geez, Mikeyy. Did you even try to learn about your candidate?

Quote:
Clinton, Oct. 16, 2015: Now communities have done Ö gun buyback programs. But I think it would be worth considering doing it on the national level if that could be arranged. Remember I know after the terrible í08 financial crisis, one of the programs that President Obama was able to get in place was cash for clunkers. Remember that? Getting them off the road. It was partly a way to get people to buy new cars, ícause we want more economic activity, it was partly a way to get old models, that were polluting too much, sort of off the road. So I think that is worth considering. I do not know enough detail to tell you how we would do it, or how it would work, but certainly the Australian example is worth looking at.
I'll let you read up on the Australian "buyback" program. You tell me how that's compatible with the 2A.

And Politifact is unbiased? You realize that it's just telling you it's opinion, right? It's not a fact checker...

The woman was answering a question from someone who brought it up. She wasn't proposing anything. So get the story right.
