Japan knife attack: 19 killed and dozens wounded in stabbing |
25 July 2016 |

Quote:
At least 19 people are reported to have been killed and another 26 injured after a man went on a rampage with a knife at a Japanese facility for disabled people in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Japan's public broadcaster NHK said a suspect had been arrested after he attacked residents of the Tsukui Yamayuri En (Tsukui Lily Garden) facility in Sagamihara in Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo. Japanese media reported that staff at the facility called police at 2.30am local time with reports of a man armed with a knife on the grounds...Japan's Kyodo news agency has put the death toll at 19 which if confirmed would be one of the worst crimes in Japanese postwar history.

Looks like this thread is in need of some love AND I think that Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Gimme Back My Bullets" should be the theme song for the gungen.

I guess knife massacres are not stimulating enough for anti-gun weenies.

The difference is that death by guns and death by knives are not even close.
Gun violence in the United States results in thousands of deaths and injuries annually.[1] According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2013, there were 73,505 nonfatal firearm injuries (23.23 per 100,000 U.S. citizens);[2] 11,208 homicides (3.5 per 100,000);[3] 21,175 suicides;[4] 505 deaths due to accidental/negligent discharge of a firearm; and 281 deaths due to firearms-use with "undetermined intent",[4] included in a total of 33,636 deaths due to "Injury by firearms",[4] or 10.6 deaths per 100,000 people.[4] Of the 2,596,993 total deaths in the US in 2013, 1.3% were related to firearms.[1][5] The ownership and control of guns are among the most widely debated issues in the country.
Knives? Less than 2,000

This has been explained so many times that starting up a new thread like this is kind of like beating a dead horse and asking others why they aren't jumping in on the action.

Ban every weapon, and everything that can be used as a weapon, cut off everybody's arms and legs, and people will still be trying to kill, murder, butcher, and massacre. The means to kill is not the problem. The intent formed in the mind is. The only thing that will stop a psycho bent on wanton killing is the neutralizing of the function of the medulla oblongata.

I was in Japan for two years about four decades ago. I once asked a Japanese citizen where a firearm could be bought. He said "No guns, but you can buy a good sword or fighting stick for defense of your house. Guns are not allowed here."

I don't know what the law is now, but I notice the psycho did not need one (a gun) to end the lives of those people.

Apples and bananas. Guns are used more often in the US because they are more prevalent.

Knives are more prevalent in Japan. So a higher percentage of knife attacks. Also more incidents of people pouring poison in air conditioning vents.

Then there's other factors. Millions of them.

I don't know what is in the air, or water, or food, but too many "intelligent" people are still squeezing their guts out trying to convince more intelligent people that the abundance of inanimate objects that can be used as weapons is the underlying cause of psychos' brains being stimulated into performing acts of mayhem and slaughter.

Really?
Most homes have a kitchen. Most kitchens have knives.
I don't own a gun (although I'd like to some day) but I do own several knives.

The stats I gave were for U.S.

I would suspect you are right regarding Japan.
Japan's law description:
The weapons law begins by stating "No one shall possess a firearm or firearms or a sword or swords", and very few exceptions are allowed.[40] However, citizens are permitted to possess firearms for hunting and sport shooting, but only after submitting to a lengthy licensing procedure.[41]
