Default Gun owners are not being punished if a gun law passes

Just thought that we should get the noun correct.

Definition of PUNISHMENT

1: the act of punishing

2a: suffering, pain, or loss that serves as retribution

b: a penalty inflicted on an offender through judicial procedure

3: severe, rough, or disastrous treatment

None of these apply to those saying they are being "Punished" if a new gun law or requirement is passed.

Just thought we should get this straightened out.

No it does not. Show us where if you have done nothing wrong how punishment apllies or give it up.

If I yell "Fire" in a crowded theater I will be sanctioned. Free speech rights are not unlimited.

Since the First has limits on it, gun owners need to live with and accept reasonable limitations on the Second. No less a conservative icon than Justice Antonin Scalia sez so.

Git 'er done.

It's not "reasonable" limits we are worried about, we already have those. It's the unreasonable limits that do nothing to prevent violent crime that are the problem.

Reasonable limits include background checks, and safety measures in storing guns.

Liability insurance for gun owners would reward safe gun ownership with lower rates while protecting ALL citizens from the irresponsible.

How you do know for example universal background checks won't stop some people from dieing due to gun violence? How can any one prove a negative? Perhaps we should try it and see over time what it does to gun violence in this country, or you really believe the propaganda the NRA shoves out for your consumption.

Two nice feel good ideas which will have no effect on violent crime while being a hassle to those exercizing their rights.

Right, I should get insurance to cover the victim of somebody elses crime. Yeah, that makes sense.
Ranks right up there with getting insurance to pay the victim when some drunk steals your car and runs over a pedestrian.

Hey lurch. If you care about lowering gun violence tell us all exactly what needs to be done. I'd love to hear YOUR ideas.

And I'd love to know how you keep your guns out of other people's hands. How do you store them?

Simple, criminals know they are not going to pass a background check so they don't get their guns that way. Murder is illegal, as it should be, but it doesn't stop people from commiting murder. What it does do is allow us to punish people who murder. Universal background checks burden everybody, for little if any value.
