Likely, there will be some level of taxation required to offset Government expenditures on environmental cleanup, which is actually what the bill entailed. Its relatively clear however that investment from the private sector on the next generation energy economy will have very little effect on Taxation in this country, and in fact is likely one of the few ways we will manage to stabilize our faltering economy.
Attempting to tie increased personal taxes into a non existing "Global Warming" policy is almost as bad as watching Al Gore propagate a worst case scenario campaign in the Media. Both are extremism we can all do without, and both tend to make those of us that rely on actual Data tune out the messenger, and giggle at the message. |

I don't know why, but although I have a friend who is a meteorology geek (go figure!), I have never asked him his opinion on this subject.
![]() I shall remedy that situation at my first opportunity! My thoughts at present are confused on the matter. One side presents their evidence, the other their own. Since most people are not scientists, we'll have to let the experts battle it out. I do know some industries recognize they are polluting and insert language addressing that in their company literature. Would they do that if it weren't true? Is it just that biased people are now chairmen of a handful of major corporations? I truly do not know. I do know that when chemical plants are going full throttle, it often causes rain to fall. And the rain is nasty and gunky as it settles on your car. I do know we don't know what the crap big industry puts into the air and water. In the name of trade secret protection we can't send a consumer group into DOW Chemical to follow the progress of what useless bi-products go where. I do know there is such a thing as dead dirt. And a lot more subdivisions are built over chemical dumps than the public is aware of. I know of a hospital that is built on top of a dumping ground. Whether pollution of the air causes greenhouse effect is being debated. Looks good on paper, though.

Yeah I'm out here now. Its cloudy here in Costa Mesa. It is supposed to start soon and last a couple of days. I hear there are some huge waves. I might go look. When I was A kid we looked forward to the big waves from storms for surfing. But I understand there are supposed to be some serious rip tides too.

Here is what my geeky friend wrote me on the subject. And believe me he lives for meteorology. Sorry I don't have permission to print his name just excerpts of an e mail. So this is subjective information. I asked the question "What do you think about global warming?" and am merely posting his answer: Quote:

I will repeat, this is one person's opinion, albeit one person I have a lot of respect for. I am only sharing this with you guys. And can't back it up with statistics. ![]()

I agree with your friend. This planet will soon find a way to seriously curtail it's population again one way or another. As scientists say, 99% of this planets species are now extinct. Climate is a single piece of a big puzzle.

Oh, the not-in-my-backyard mentality... I didnt know we are able to say where our taxes will be spent. I would think that government subsidies would be changed to reflect how industry will change to curb GCC. |

Could you imagine if they had blogs 600 years ago. We would be arguing over the flatness of the earth.

You're trying to equate the thinking of 600 years ago with the thinking of people today who don't believe himans are the cause of global warming... The difference is that 600 years ago people were being led by their religious leaders and not by science or levelheaded objectivity... That sounds like those who worship Gorism more than those that oppose it...
