Czech President Klaus ready to debate Gore on climate change

Quote:
Washington - Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming, as he presented the English version of his latest book that argues environmentalism poses a threat to basic human freedoms. "I many times tried to talk to have a public exchange of views with him, and he's not too much willing to make such a conversation," Klaus said. "So I'm ready to do it."

Klaus was speaking a the National Press Building in Washington to present his new book, Blue Planet in Green Shackles - What Is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?, before meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday.

"My answer is it is our freedom and, I might add, and our prosperity," he said.

Gore a former US vice president who has become a leading international voice in the cause against global warming, was co-winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Gore's effort was highlighted by his Oscar winning documentary film An Inconvienent Truth.

Klaus, an economist, said he opposed the "climate alarmism" perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals, comparing it to the decades of communist rule he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.

"Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality," he said.
He does show a very valid point...

Gore is more than happy to stand in front of a podium and preach unquestioned, but when someone wants him to debate where he stands against someone from the other side of the topic, Al's nowhere to be found...

I would be surprised if Gore took up the Czech President on his offer, as Gore would actually have to present facts to make his arguement effective.

The global warming paranoia needs to be curtailed somehow, and even though English isn't the Czech's natural language, he would still trash Gore in a debate.

That book sounds interesting, but it's really nothing new to me.

Just look at the ecoterrorists burning houses down, what it it, ELF?

Talking Re: Czech President Klaus ready to debate Gore on climate change

Me too. Al isn't going to debate anyone on this his pet project.

But there are some very important finds that (no matter the cause human or nature) do need our attention. We have a lot of Science on both sides yet that doesn't change the facts on the ground.
Mankind can for the first time do something to change the situation in our young history. We are the first of many species, that have gone by the way, that can have an impact on the outcome of our surivival. In earths 4.5+ billions of years history we can decide our fate to some degree, if we focus and work together as a unified world people.

And if we do that together the costs won't be out of reach. Or we can debate it till one side is proven wrong and the other is the winner.
