No opinion...No explanation of the topic...Just a link...

First, these threads are nothing more than saying "Hey. Look at this."...Doesn't so much in terms of discussion...

But secondly, it makes the other members go fetch...They don't know what the heck you want to discuss UNTIL they go through your maze...

So throw out a little info with the link...Let the other members know the direction of the thread instead of making them figure it out for themselves...

Also, as per Forum Rules...

But in any case, the title of a thread where an article is posted should NEVER do any of the following.

1) Personally attack individual members or a group of members for their political or personal beliefs.

2) Meant to inflame instead of debate

3) Is vague on the thread's reason for existing. ("I Told You So" and "Check This Out" are NOT reasonable thread titles).

I was glad to see this thread, because I've noticed a lot of youtube videos being posted lately in the beginning of a thread with no text, just the video. I won't watch those, because I find it annoying.

And certain members still don't get it.

I wish threads would be titled to reflect what the opening post is. Otherwise why would anyone bother to open it. For instance there is a thread entitled 'Donald Trump.' People could either copy and paste the opening title of an article or whatever, or make a title to better represent what the thread is about.

Another annoying new trend is the practice of digging up a 10 year old thread and attaching your topic there instead of opening a new thread.

Perhaps the addition of a date of the original thread in the new posts list is in order.

As you say Why would anyone open it?

Oh, absolutely. That practice really annoys me. If we want news, we know where to go as we all have the internet. The practice of posting news articles with the member's opinion, or indeed a flippant opinion really is stupid. Many times I have wanted to voice that opinion but I imagined I was the only person who thought that about those posts. Glad to hear I am not the only one.

And while I am here, regarding our recent banned member, we should know by now that a new person barging straight in with uber-confident and vocal views on subjects, without an introductory thread, is just slightly possible to be suspect. Not all, as I don't want to generalise, but just looking at that member's views from the beginning, it just didn't seem kosher, to coin the phrase. The person was out to antagonise from the beginning.
