Default Suggestion

What if we combined some of these OWS threads?
There are an awful lot of them, and many of them are kind of the same.
Just an idea.

If there isn't any interest in one, a few, or some of them, then they'll drift off to the second page and into oblivion...But if there's interest in them individually, then far be it for the staff to force them into a single thread...

I merged some opinion and smarky ones, but hope no one biaches. Hadn't read redd's comment b4 I did it.
Left the real news ones in place tho.

The thing is, I have reason to believe they are all being bumped. Daily. By the same person. Just for the hell of it.
That is my observation, anyway.
It makes it difficult to find more interesting (to me) threads, when every day the entire list of "new posts" consists of two dozen threads about Occupy Wall Street.
So: thanks, Salty.

One thing we did when I moderated science forums (we had sections for politics) when a specific issue made the news that got a lot of constant attention and buzz is create a temporary sub-section for said issues.

This way if someone does not want to see a dozen threads about the same topic in a section, they will not be forced to. Once the issue died out and was no longer the main focus, all threads were moved back to the original section and the sub-group was removed.

There were a few issues we did this for, including the "Ground Zero Mosque" and the flotilla incident with Israel. We saw that virtually all threads on the main sections were becoming consumed with them to the point almost every thread on the first page of the section was about them.

For our situation, cnredd could create a sub-group off of the News and Current Events section called "OWS" and move all of the current threads on it there. And all future threads on OWS would be created there.

Just my two cents.

Out of the most ephemeral curiosity, one might like to know whom you believe to be "snarky?"

I don't know but one poster in particular seems to have a lot of interest in what OWS does. I'm not naming anyone but just sayin'

Pretty good idea...

I added the sub-forum "Occupy Wall Street" and placed the multiple threads there...
