We've added a News Ticker at the top of the pages (right under the new banner)...

While waiting for a response from a member on a subject...or even just wondering what's up in the news, you can read it tick off the latest headlines...

If the News Ticker shows a story that piques your interest, you can click the text of the story which will take you to the actual article...

And of course, that can be your source for starting a thread on it...

I like.. pdc.

One major issue is that the News Ticker comes from outside the forum's server...

So when the Ticker's site is down, that slows the forum up because it's trying so long to connect...This has happened on more than one occasion...Like now...

Because of this, I'm suspending the News Ticker...I'll put it back in if there's a major outcry, but keep in mind these times when it actually hurts the forum more than it helps...

I have been noticing the lag time caused by the ticker and the fact that it posts news that is often two days old.

yeah...I thought it would be more informative, too...

Also, I thought a some movement up top would cause a little "sparkle" to the forum...

Didn't really work out the way I thought it would...

Can't say we didn't try...

Hey,it's always worth a try and at first,I really liked it! I'm on DSL,lag time might be a little more noticeable for me as well as dial up users.I don't think this was a major issue but load times do matter on slow connections.They can frustrate people who are trying to post.
