What Shows & Etc. Have You Sworn Off Due To Ideology?

Not just the ones you never have watched and never would watch, but the ones you have STOPPED watching.

There was a time when I would watch or listen to anything and everything. That has recently changed.

I sorely object to TV shows which go too far to attack or demonize McCain or Christians and traditional American values.

The other day when David Letterman was viciously and petulantly attacking McCain for going back to D.C. to help pass the Bailout Bill he lost my patronage for good.

I have only watched Katie Couric 1 - 2 times since she began because she was so bad when she began there at CBS...I don't know how she is now. I've stopped watching the NBC Nightly News and the ABC World News because they are in the tank for Obama so far that it seems such a constant nightly assault on my sense of fair play that I can no longer rationalize it as being a reasonable expression of the point of view of the "other" side.

I won't watch CBS' "New Old Christine" anymore after watching an episode with her going apeshix when her son went to church with his dad and new wife. She reacted as though he was being allowed to go to a tittie bar or something. She'd have freaked out less if he was caught smoking crack!

I was coming close to giving up on SNL until they began making jokes about Obama and not just McCain.

What TV shows or radio shows or performers have you sworn off because of ideological differences?

Not just the ones you never have watched and never would watch, but the ones you have STOPPED watching.

none

I'm capable of discerning between entertainment and reality

I don't watch much primetime, but The West Wing was particularly one sided...

Primetime in general is sad...based simply on the fact that "religious" episodes and themes are considered walking into dangerous territory but they have no problems killing multiple people as if someone asked them to pass the salt...

The idea of "Sex and the City" was pretty pathetic IMO...Being a whore used to be considered a bad thing, but they embraced it and called it "empowerment"...

But most people don't know when they're being lectured to or influenced...

Political placement works just as much as product placement...

Only if the "whore" was a woman. If it were a man, it was embraced and he was considered a "ladies' man."

"Sex and the City" simply turned the tables.

I didn't particularly care about the show - but I had no problem with its premise.

"Sex and the City" simply turned the tables alright...

...in the absolute wrong direction...

As you've said in your first sentence...this was the way it worked...

Quote:
woman bangin' everything that moves = bad

guy bangin' everything that moves = good
Obviously, a double standard...

But in reality, this is the logic that SHOULD be used...

Quote:
woman bangin' everything that moves = bad

guy bangin' everything that moves = also bad
Instead of doing that, Sex & the City went the OPPOSITE way of logic...

Quote:
guy bangin' everything that moves = good

woman bangin' everything that moves = also good
It gave justification of behavior unbecoming and worse, didn't really show the consequences of their actions...something which millions of women end up doing in real life...

actually, that's NOT what the show was all about - and they DIDN'T bang everything that moves

and, if you watched it, you would know that they DID have consequences for their actions.

I don't think priggery and prudery is going forward. different strokes

Well I don't watch FOX at all except when I'm overseas because sometimes that's the only U.S. news available. I don't listen to Radio personalities from either side of the aisle. Because they all represent the extremes. CNN is OK for international reporting. But all of the 24 hour news channels are screwy when it comes to political analysis. MSNBC is what I usually have on. I know that Olbermann and Maddow are lefties. Matthews goes which way the wind blows. But NBC and MSNBC other then politics have striaght news thats fine. CBS isn't as biased as they are represented to be by the right. ABC is not even interesting left or right.
Macniel Lerher is good reporting. BBC is good reporting. I also watch Cspan a lot. I usually have cspan on all morning when I'm home. But lately because of the election I just leave it on MSNBC. Not because I don't realize that some of them are biased. But because they talk politics all day with players from all sides.

Other then that I don't watch TV. Unless they ever have some more episodes of Deadwood on HBO. Or Boxing or football

I've given up watching Lou Dobb's show...it was interesting at first and he shares the same view that I do on illegal immigration. However...the show started to remind me of the movie Network.."I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" Lou has finally gone off the deep end..never to return to my livingroom..
