Little Rascals: Hide & Shriek (1938)

Quote:
Porky and Buckwheat want to join Alfalfa's detective agency. While following some suspects they wind up in a carnival spook house which scares them out of wanting to be detectives any more (last episode before the franchise was sold to MGM and it jumped the shark (Spanky does not appear))

I'm glad you both enjoyed it. I was tickled to watch it for the first time in decades. But it seemed like only yesterday that I first watched this episode.

But I never knew that this was the last Hal Roach episode.

I could easily tell the shorts changed in their tenor and feel and the actors involved but I never knew as a kid that it was due to the franchise going to MGM. They really weren't as good as those made before 1938.

Nowadays they'd be considered racist and discriminatory...

You are right.

It would be wasted on current day PC critics that Buckwheat had a designation ½ number higher than Porky and that would be a sign of Black acceptance.

And that Black men DO grow white beards as they age.
