I hope he died with a gun in his cold dead hands...

Planet of the Apes

from Soylent Green
Two of my favorites. What a large personality he brought to the screen- Gonna be missed.

It's a shame he's known for his gun cause from the youth more than his artistic accomplishments...

I didn't know that he was known more for a gun with youth. That's news to me.
The cult classic Soylent Green is kind of cheesy now, I guess, but it has some great moments.
I remember going to see the movie where he played Moses with my great aunt. She was thrilled so I was too. hee-hee.
I didn't see Ben-Hur till I was older. And I remember everyone (in our little world) wondered if they should let small children see it due to the violence (the chariot race). LOL

He was the head of the National Rifle Association for quite awhile...

The last major incident with Heston was when Michael Moore showed up unannounced to Heston's home and interviewed him for "Bowling for Columbine"...

Heston was in the first stages of dementia and sounded quite incoherant at times...Moore made him out a fool...

Fond remembrances.

He will be missed by many. I grew up seeing his movies. Same for the Lone Ranger and Hop Along and many others. Henry Fonda, plus the many other great stars that have gone.
He was an American Idol IMHO. And a great promoter of the right to own guns. I hope he died with a M-60 machine gun at his bedside....lol
