Oliver Stone shadows Hugo Chavez

SANTO DOMINGO, Venezuela – American filmmaker Oliver Stone praised President Hugo Chavez on Friday as the Venezuelan leader launched a mission to airlift three hostages held by leftist rebels out of Colombia's jungles.

Stone, standing near Chavez, said he was working on a film and hoped to accompany the humanitarian operation into Colombia.

"I'm doing a documentary about Latin America and also about North America. You have to wait around to see it," Stone told reporters. He said he planned to take part in the mission, calling it a "beautiful, great process.''

"I'm hoping it works. I'm all for this," Stone said.

The Oscar-winning director, who made a 2003 documentary about Cuban President Fidel Castro as well as the movie Platoon, called Chavez a "great man" and said "I'm a fan.''

Urging Stone to speak with reporters, Chavez told him in accented English: "The girls want to see you!" He joked that Stone was President Bush's "envoy.''

"There are some good Americans. That's why I'm here, to remind you," Stone said.

Chavez revealed that Stone was in Venezuela on Thursday, saying they had met for two hours.

"He's going around doing research. He says he wants to know and learn deeply the history of these nations," Chavez said. "He's an anti-imperialist, Oliver Stone. He's a good man.''
Another moron...What else is new...

But there may be a problem looming...

ALL celebrities that back Chavez are left wing...

But what happens if a Democrat becomes Prez?...

The Democratic candidates haven't been warm with Chavez, and will still consider him dangerous in national security interests...

That would leave these socialist celebrities turning their back on Chavez and telling the world that the US isn't "imperialist" anymore () or they'll CONTINUE to show their true colors and rally against America even though their own will be leading the country...

Decisions decisions...

I enjoy Oliver Stone's work but his understanding of today's political dynamics is 3rd rate...

Well I can't figure out how he can fit into such a short shadow. I thought Oliver Stoned has been irrelevant since his Kennedy movie. His history is so often just plain fiction.

Oliver Stone is not a moron. He's a good director.

Oliver Stone's understanding of today's political situation is not third rate. He was good in bringing the issues into honest and sincere treatment to his film.
