![]() Because of a desire to keep from hurting the oh-so-delicate sensibilities of some--presumably, white liberals--the (former) Washington Redskins have abandoned their nickname.
One would think, at least, that they would have then come up with a replacement. But no. They are now, officially, The Washington Football Team. Do others find this just as irksome (and senseless) as I do?

![]() Because it's stupid.....
The cancel culture is a crock of **** and trying to wipe away American history is wrong imo.... Pro football and baseball teams that have had names for decades should be exempt from these butt hurt cry babys and their "feelings".... Washington not finding a new name is just another pathetic attempt at political incorrectness.... |

![]() It bothers me because (a) I do not care for political correctness--especially when it is (presumably) instigated by white liberals, in the (supposed) defense of some "oppressed" group; and (2) if these people simply must--must!--retire the name, it would seem incumbent upon them to suggest a replacement (which I have not seen done).

But you should certainly not use this as an attempt--and a very weak one, at that--to justify cancel culture on the left. (When the left runs out of convincing arguments--or when simply none are available--it invariably shouts "You, too!") As for Colin Kaepernick: Although his college career (with the University of Nevada) was rather impressive, he was a mediocre NFL quarterback (who alternated between first string and second string). And as Wikipedia says of his continual protests: "In the 49ers' third preseason game in 2016, Kaepernick sat during the playing of the U.S. national anthem prior to the game, rather than stand as is customary, as a protest against racial injustice, police brutality and systematic oppression in the country. The following week, and throughout the regular season, Kaepernick kneeled during the anthem." The NFL is a business--and, like any other business, it exists to generate money--and since Colin Kaepernick was toxic (because of his own chosen actions), he would likely have produced a quite undesirable result as regarding any team's bottom line. Therefore, the combination of his toxicity and his mediocrity caused NFL owners--throughout the league--to shun him.

![]() Republican Marjorie Taylor Green was stripped of her committee assignments by the Democrat House caucus. That's right, in a display of arrogance and dictatorial hubris House Democrats declared themselves in charge of Republican committee assignments. It’s the same stupid Democrat maneuver that led them to discard the filibuster for judicial appointments. No doubt Democrats will scream when the Republicans exercise the same veto power over committee assignments after they take back the majority. ![]()
