the student can always find another teacher whose class time accommodates their schedule.
free instruction can be found on the internet.
heck, i just searched youtube for cello lessons and a bunch of stuff came up.
if the student is taking advanced lessons then that probably means they are serious and pretty good at it.
it would seem they would do what was necessary to be on time and well rehearsed.
Thank you so much! The debate about this story among the people who live in Chinese mainland so long or leave for the US for the time being has been advanced to the political height: someone think that the poor people shouldn't learn to play any instruments because they can't afford the study, and the others think they shouldn't give up their dreams just because they're not rich.

never give up on dreams. some of the poorest people overcome their circumstances to do great things.

The reasons are following:

1) He/she couldn't afford a suitable transportation.
2) Apparently, his/her cello teacher wasn't going to change the arranged lesson time for him/her.
I don't think the student should give up. Rather they should search for alternatives.

Find a class closer to home at a better time, or on line sources. There are many on line courses in most subjects.
