Default Different nations' music and dances

I like to hear typical music from other countries and see their national dances too. This thread is for national dances/music. I have seen the movie 'Live and Become 'and there was some Ethiopian dance in it, so I will start with Ethiopia.

SHOSHANA, what can you tell us about the Morris Dance? Terry Pratchett makes it seem like a threat to the public health in his books. (But a blessing to beer salesmen.)

I think England (of course that excludes Wales, Ireland and Scotland) must be one of the only countries in the world that doesn't have a national dance as such.

Morris dancing is not a standard dance taught in England. It is a traditional dance though of olden times, although some rural areas still have the Morris dancing - in quaint picture-postcard areas of England.

It is traditional in those locations (but not all areas bother with it) to, especially on the first day of May or in Springtime to have Morris dancers performing on the village green. Spectators often think it is a huge joke, but these performers take it very seriously, although of course with a good sense of humour. There are also Championships.

Sorry about the quality of this clip - it was hard to find a good one.

Great thread, Shoshy.

Time to get some Greek flavor up in here.
