Olivia de Havilland--
A resident of Paris since the 1950s, de Havilland rarely makes public appearances. According to John Lichfield in a 14 July 2009 interview published in the Independent, she is working on an autobiography and hoped to have a first draft by September 2009.

De Havilland narrated the 2009 documentary, I Remember Better When I Paint. The film is about the importance of art in the treatment of Alzheimer’s.

On September 9, 2010, at the age of 94, Olivia de Havilland received the Knight of the Legion of Honor, which is a decoration awarded by the President of the French Republic.

"I didn’t see it and I don’t care to see it. I know they say it’s a good picture, but I don’t care to see it." Borgnine added, "If John Wayne were alive, he’d be rolling over in his grave!"
Kirk Douglas (still a kickin' ) and O de H were born in 1916. Ernie was born in 1917. Mickey Roony was born September 23, 1920.

Ernst Borgnine

Quote:
In 1951, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he eventually received his big break in From Here to Eternity (1953), playing the cruel Sergeant "Fatso" Judson in charge of the stockade, who taunts fellow soldier Angelo Maggio (played by Frank Sinatra). Borgnine built a reputation as a dependable character actor and appeared in early film roles as villains, including movies like Johnny Guitar, Vera Cruz and Bad Day at Black Rock. But in 1955, the actor starred as a warm-hearted butcher in the film version of the television play Marty, which gained him an Academy Award for Best Actor

Mickey Rooney

Quote:
Rooney's breakthrough role as a dramatic actor came in 1938's Boys Town opposite Spencer Tracy as Whitey Marsh, which opened shortly before his 18th birthday. Rooney was named the biggest box-office draw in 1939, 1940 and 1941

So again if you accept my contention what's commonly called Hollywood's golden age was the 1930s-1940s, then Mickey Rooney, and Olivia DeHavilland, and now I discover her sister, and yeah OK let's slip Lauren Bacall in there, are the last remaining stars from that era I can think of.

Olive De Havilland

Quote:
Olivia Mary de Havilland (born July 1, 1916) is a British American film and stage actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1946 and 1949. She is the elder sister of actress Joan Fontaine. Along with her sister, de Havilland is one of the last surviving leading ladies from Hollywood of the 1930s.

Ok, wait. If I'm using Wikipedia info, you guys are all right and I'm wrong. They've moved the goal posts on what I always thought of as "Golden Age".

Kirt Douglas is still alive. He was a special presenter/guest on the academy awards last week. He is in his 90's, still holding his own, but looking rough around the edges. Frail......But then, who the heck wouldn't be at his age?

Why? Did somebody say he wasn't?

This site is handy for keeping up with who's dead, or alive.

They seem to keep it up to date.
