Hmm. That's pretty slow, even for Arkansas. It's more likely that the guy was (is) a xenophobic member of the religious right.

I disagree. There were still many misconceptions and misunderstandings about AIDS in 1992. I can say this because I working in the medical field by that point and time in my life. We actually 'isolated' our AIDS patients from the rest of the patients in the nursing home or hospital wing, and we garbed up before going into their rooms. Once medical equipment went into their rooms, it stayed until their discharge or death. Now we don't do those sorts of things anymore... but we did in 1992 (I am speaking from my own personal experiences). So... I have to disagree with you on that point IP.

We did what we did... It was Standard Operating Procedure at the time.

I understand that

but it was common well-known knowledge in the medical community by 1992 that it was unnecessary (and a waste of time, energy and money).

I simply stated that you were involved in a very backward medical organization - I didn't doubt that what you said was true.
