Republicans' Chances for a Senate Takeover Just Got Much Better

Quote:
At age 88, most Iowans would be sitting in a rocker on their front porch listening to the corn grow and watching their great-grandchildren at play.

But Senator Chuck Grassley has a different idea. The seven-term senator has been listening to the importuning from national Republicans to run for what would most assuredly be a slam-dunk eighth term and has decided to grant them their wish.

There are no major league professional sports teams in Iowa. There are some good college football programs at Iowa State in Ames and in Iowa City, where the state university plays. But the closest Iowans get to the major leagues is their iconic Senator Chuck Grassley.

First elected to Congress in 1975, he won a Senate seat in the GOP Reagan landslide of 1980 and hasnít looked back.

Grassleyís decision doesnít seal a Senate takeover by Republicans, but it takes a very large piece off the board. There are still four GOP senators who are mulling their future. Ohio, Alabama, and Missouri are fairly safe GOP seats no matter if the incumbent runs or not, but Wisconsinís Ron Johnson is facing a very difficult re-election campaign and is holding off on an announcement until later this fall. There are also two difficult races in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, where the Republican senator is retiring. The Republicans will be hard-pressed to keep both those seats.

So taking Iowa off the board will allow the national party to devote more resources in states that will be competitive.
I have a theory...

He's running to take Iowa off the board, and THEN retire soon after, and let the republican governor pick a Republican replacement...

Republican's chances to take the senate are good but their strategy seems to be false claims of voter fraud clear up till the mid terms to stir up fear and outrage. The fact Biden just got more votes from Arizona's what? 99th recount doesn't matter as many just read headlines or hear about an audit and think something was wrong.

I'm surprised the party still lets that nonsense simmer. I mean what kind of strategy is there when you go along with the "It's all rigged" BS, implying to your base that their vote doesn't really count since the other side will just cheat. Doesn't really encourage anyone.

This exact thing happened with BOTH sides...One in 2016 and the other in 2020...

This shows the "lack of encouragement" isn't that great...

Not to near similar degrees. Nobody was pushing for recounts and audits almost a year after the 2016 election. Hillary didn't endlessly screech about being cheated until social media suspended her accounts collectively, nor did she have a Guiliani or a MyPillow guy. She just f-cked off into the aether for a while lol. Which was fitting.

Sh-t Trump is still going on about it, guy just can't take an L.

Regardless, I still don't believe trying to convince your voters that there's so much cheating out there, enough to overturn election across the country, is a good motivator. I mean I might be wrong, maybe in the midterms we'll have a "We'll overwhelm the cheaters" effect or what have you.

Whatever the reason in anybody's fantasies, the Democrats are scared stupid that one little piss ant, President Biden, has single-handedly kicked the crap out of any semblance of order.

You speak as if you know things, and yet...
