Default Run-off in Texas' 6th District

After the death of Ron Wright, Texas, 23 people ran for this seat in congress, and these two will have a run-off:


Jake Ellzey

Texas House of Representatives from the 10th district, served in the United States Navy as a fighter pilot, doing tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.
born in Amarillo and raised in Perryton. Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the United States Naval Academy in 1992.

Since retiring from the Navy, Ellzey has worked as a private pilot and consultant. He was also a social aide in the White House Office during the Bush administration. From 2012 to 2018, he was commissioner of the Texas Veterans Commission.

Ellzey finished second to Wright's widow, Susan, and he was 354 votes ahead of Democrat Jana Lynne Sanchez. On May 2, 2021, Sanchez conceded the race for the second spot in the top-two runoff to Ellzey.

Susan Wright

Wright's professional experience includes working as a district director for state Reps. Bill Zedler and David Cook, and is the widow of congressman Ron Wright.

What you left out was the seat will remain in Republican hands and Ellzey was endorsed by Trump and the Never-Trump Republican, Michael Wood, squeaked out a paltry 3% . . .
