Trump just told us how mail delays could help him corrupt the election

Trump just told us how mail delays could help him corrupt the election

It’s telling that after President Trump was widely rebuked for suggesting a delay of the election, he wasn’t remotely chastened. Instead, he floated another scenario that could help him accomplish the same goal of avoiding a free and fair election:

He suggested that only the votes that can be tallied on Election Day should count.

This may seem like Trumpian bluster. But it’s much more alarming in light of an important new exposé in The Post that reports on big backlogs in mail delivery due to “cost-cutting” by the new head of the U.S. Postal Service — who, by spectacular coincidence, just happens to be a top Trump fundraiser.

And here’s an additional reason for alarm that needs more attention: The impact of those delays could be dramatically exacerbated by state laws that invalidate ballots that are mailed before Election Day but arrive after Election Day.

Guess which key presidential swing states have such provisions invalidating ballots that arrive after Election Day?

All of them do, with the exception of North Carolina.

“In states where ballots won’t count if they are received after Election Day, the impact could be devastating," Vanita Gupta, the CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, told me, adding that this could “result in potentially hundreds of thousands of ballots getting rejected.”

“The delays are going to be unpredictable with the cuts being made on the postal service,” Gupta continued. “That impact could turn a swing state completely.”

The Post exposé reports that Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is implementing changes that have critics charging that mail delays may be “the result of a political effort to undermine absentee voting.”
Wants to invalidate any ballot not received by election day; currently as long as it's post marked by election day it's good.

One of the many reasons why mail in voting may not be all that great an idea.

Fact is the USPS cannot distinguish between my mail and my neighbors. And each piece of mail, including ballots, gets handled by dozens of personnel who can, if they choose, van simply lose them.

mail employees don't have that kind of time.
absentee voting takes place all the time. I do it myself. my son always votes by mail cause he lives in Oregon.
yes the envelope is over-sized and addressed to the local courthouse/ supervisor of elections. so they would know to push those out fast.

Or they could just toss those oversized envelopes in the dumpster. Or "Forget" they left them in a box in a corner of the mail room.

You're making no argument for your case. You state they don't have that kind of time, then suggest that USPS will give ballots priority.

Right, Postal employees would never be able to tell a ballot came from a heavily Republican district so it can be shunted off for special processing. ;)

Oregon has been voting by mail for more than a decade. It took a number of years prior to that for them to get the processes and infrastructure in place. Now it's supposed to be magically replicated nationwide. :rolls

Trump is right to be concerned about Democrats manufacturing votes after election day. That's how Al Franken became Senator. Ballots literally sprouted up from attics and all sorts of unlikely spots. Miraculously they were all for the Democrat, imagine that. :o

Right postal employees nor anyone else can tell what vote you cast. I live in a heavily Republican district yet my spouse has always voted Democrat.
Again postal employees are tasked with doing more with less time so they do not have the time to play games. There's is a profession, so neither do they have the inclination.

Read this earlier...saltwn's post is all according to plan...:shrug

...The in-your-face gaslighting by the Democrat-Media Complex about the violence and mayhem inflicted on us by Antifa and BLM being either "mostly peaceful," a "myth" or "white supremacist infiltrators" being responsible is now totally understandable in context to the first part of Kyle Shideler's testimony that I highlighted. The Democrats are not only cheering on the terrorists from the sidelines. It is evident that they are providing political cover for them to continue the mayhem right up to and even beyond the election should President Trump in fact win.

This is also why we are now being bombarded with the meme that Trump is trying to corrupt or co-opt the Postal Service to steal the votes for him. Were it not for the titanic level of gall in one of the most incredible examples of projection yet to come from the Dems, I'd be busting a gut from laughter.
But it's no joke because you better believe the 99.999% Leftist makeup of the Postal Service means this is what they have in store. Outright wholesale ballot theft to push Biden over the finish line outright, or sow chaos and discord orders of magnitude greater than the hanging chads of 2000. That election was bad enough during a time of blissful ignorance pre-9/11/01. 20 years on, America is staring into the abyss.

tallk about gas lghting :rolls
that's the same tactic R operatives used that actually helped Obama win. :rofl
Say dems are doing so and so or saying so and so. dems are like what? :eek
the way he's trying to steal the election is a chip at a time
turn people against mail in voting
make it harder for po to handle larger amt of ballots
claim there's massive voter fraud
head off dem replies by saying they are doing some other bad sh and blaming it on R's
rinse repeat
yeah no :cool

Typical spin by the left.
What Trump said was the weakness of the postal system with regards to ballots. What the headline says is that he intends to engineer the system so it does just that. The left has spent the last three years predicting what evils President Trump will do. None have come to fruition.

Not one.

Now, they predict he won't leave the office if he loses. And fools believe them.

Our media cannot even broadcast truthful news of events that have actually happened. Yet many believe their predictions.
One cannot make this stuff up.

Amazing!
