Default North Carolina election-fraud investigation centers on operative with criminal histor

https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...=.ff3823d1023f

Quote:
DUBLIN, N.C. — In a low-slung, aging commercial strip across the street from an online-gaming parlor here, a local operative named Leslie McCrae Dowless ran his command center for Republican Mark Harris in the 9th Congressional District primary this spring.
Quote:
Dowless sat at a desk at the back of one of the strip’s vacant storefronts, where he oversaw a crew of workers who collected absentee ballots from voters and updated the Harris campaign on the numbers, according to Jeff Smith, who is the building’s owner and a former Dowless friend.

Smith provided his account about the primary campaign to state investigators, who are examining whether Dowless’s activities then and in the general election violated North Carolina’s election laws, which allow only individual voters or designated close relatives to mail a ballot.
Quote:
Dowless is now at the center of a burgeoning fraud investigation that has delayed the certification of Harris’s narrow victory and could prompt officials to call for a new election between him and Democrat Dan McCready, who are separated by 905 votes, according to unofficial returns.

Dowless, who has denied any wrongdoing to the Charlotte Observer, did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

The possibility that November’s vote will be tossed out has prompted an eruption of partisan accusations. The case is politically fraught for Republicans, who in North Carolina and across the country have pushed for voter-identification laws and other restrictions while warning without evidence about the threat of rampant voter fraud, particularly by immigrants in the country illegally.
Quote:
Now, amid Democratic calls for investigations of a different kind of election fraud — one that allegedly benefited the GOP — Republicans have stayed largely silent about the allegations, instead accusing the state elections board of trying to steal the race.

On Monday, the board issued a subpoena to the Harris campaign, according to campaign attorney John Branch. The board is expected to issue one soon to Red Dome Group, a GOP consulting firm based in the suburbs of Charlotte that hired Dowless, according to two people familiar with the probe.
The required witnesses witnesses confirming ballots btw all had the same address.

Looks like we found a real serious case of election fraud, one that could overturn the results of an election and force a do-over.

Sad thing is the lady in question was only was paid $75-$100 per week to illegally collect the absentee ballots.

Committing election fraud doesn't even pay well.

Unfortunately it was in aiding criminal activity to help rig an election for a Republican candidate.

Why do Democrats ONLY say election fraud exists when the candidate is Republican???...

Republicans have admitted its been on both sides FOREVER, yet Democrats consistently yell, "It doesn't exist! It doesn't exist! It's doesn't!...Except this here case when its the OTHER party!"...

Four Women Indicted in North Texas Voter Fraud Ring

Quote:
Four women who are accused of targeting elderly voters in 2016 were indicted on 30 felony counts of voter fraud and arrested following an investigation by the office of the Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

The defendants were members of an organized voter fraud ring and were paid to target elderly voters in certain northern Fort Worth precincts in a scheme to generate large numbers of mail ballots, then harvest those ballots for specific candidates, the office's news release said.
Election fraud scheme on L.A.'s skid row got homeless to sign fake names for cigarettes and cash, D.A. says

Quote:
A forged signature swapped for $1 — or sometimes a cigarette.

The crude exchange played out hundreds of times on L.A.’s skid row during the 2016 election cycle and again this year, prosecutors said Tuesday as they announced criminal charges against nine people accused in a fraud scheme.

Using cash and cigarettes as lures, the defendants approached homeless people on skid row and asked them to forge signatures on state ballot measure petitions and voter registration forms, the district attorney’s office said. The defendants — some of whom were scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday — face several criminal charges, including circulating a petition with fake names, voter fraud and registering a fictitious person.

No, the difference is that Republicans cry wolf constantly over the issue. Nobody is saying there have absolutely never been attempts at fraud in elections, only that they aren't near as frequent as Republicans want us to believe

We just had a couple of weeks wherein Republicans, without evidence, alleged fraud and conspiracy over every moment in the Florida recounts. And at the end of the day the biggest real concern was a poorly designed ballot in Broward County. You also had Trump pushing this nonsense, and wanting only the ballots tallied by the end of election night to count, discounting overseas, provisional, and military votes. Funny how there wasn't a peep from Republicans over that.

Similarly we may have the biggest election fraud story in years unfolding; a thousand or more absentee ballots illegally collected and tossed in a district with close results, with the possibility of a do-over.

And the champions of voter integrity are near silent.

Here we go again Democrats simply dismiss Republican objections to things like refusals to report the total number of ballots cast and remaining to be counted. Never mind the mixing of ineligible votes with eligible ones. Pay no attention to the county board's inability to figure out how to transmit recount vote totals until after the deadline. Never mind they transmitted the earlier counts without a problem. If we just repeat the fake news that there is no evidence of "widespread" election fraud it must be true.

But you can bet your last dollar had the recount favored the Dem candidate, they would have easily made the deadline. The reports going into the last day of the recount were that they were very close to meeting the deadline and they would have no problem reporting their counts by the deadline. Yet, somehow, they managed to not transmit the final results until a few mins after the deadline. And the final counts showed that Rick Scott actually gained a larger number of votes than the original count. How convenient.

stricter voter i. d. laws would have done nothing to stop these mail-in ballots from being screwed with. Something may need to change here but not by making it harder for people to vote.
