For eons, Christians have believed the world is hurling toward oblivion. But with the current economic downturn, the war in Iraq and the likely election of Barack Obama, many think it has picked up speed.Rapture: Distress about wars and the world economy feed apocalyptic warnings - Salt Lake Tribune 1) "replacement for Jesus" ![]() Anybody want to look at the "Palin" fan club on this one also? Nah. Let's only shine that spotlight with those accusations at the Democrats when they've got somebody popular... 2) This appeared in the Salt Lake City Tribune. I guess it must be the "liberal elite media" trying to get Obama that Utah "we need the world to end" vote... 3) There are Christians who are calling this for what it is. IMO, MOST Christians recognize this as b.s. But that doesn't stop this type of insane smearing by some people. And these thoughts are bandied about in the Salt Lake City Tribune, no less... So I guess in a day or two we are going to probably elect a terror-loving socialist who is going to bring about the end of the world. And we've already had TWO uncovered plots on his life... Bush made it through eight years, and I don't think he had any attempts. And by the superstition of the "elected in a year ending in 0" "curse", he was "due" for one. 4) If you really wanted to look at "the war in Iraq", "the economy", and "Obama's election" as signs, I think there is a man who has had a hand in all three. He instigated the war in Iraq under false pretenses, minimizing the evidence that demonstrated they had no WMDs. His policies have been demonstrated as having a hand in this economic crisis. While obviously the mortgage crisis (not his fault, other than inaction) has a large part, his presidential policies also play a part... And as for Obama, if it weren't for so many people disliking the sitting president (not even McCain wants to be seen with him), I think Obama would have a much closer race. Possibly not even have the lead... I'm just saying. If one WERE to look at causes for those three things and think of them as "signs" in the first place... ![]()
