Obama’s Race May Be as Much a Plus as a Minus

Quote:
PRINCETON, NJ -- While 6% of voters say they are less likely to vote for Barack Obama because of his race, 9% say they are more likely to vote for him, making the impact of his race a neutral to slightly positive factor when all voters' self-reported attitudes are taken into account.

At the same time, 6% of voters say John McCain's race will make them less likely to vote for him, with 7% saying it makes them more likely to vote for him, leading to the same basic conclusion: McCain's race, like Obama's, is on balance neither a plus nor a minus.
So while the press likes to whip up the "If Obama loses, it's because he's black" angle (because victimhood is an excellent resource ), what we're seeing is that more people are voting FOR Obama (9%) because he's black than people viting AGAINST him because he's black (6%)...

Gallup considers it a sttistical tie, but this also proves that the narration of victimhood is patently false...

Obama agrees with you. He says some will and some won't vote for him because of his race. He thinks in the end it will be a wash.

Go google "lose because he's black" and then get back to me...

Just because Obama hasn't come out and said it does not mean that's not the narrative being pushed...

One example of the 50,100,000 shown when I just searched for it...

DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION: Speakers warn Barack Obama could lose because of racism

Quote:
New Jersey's delegates to the Democratic National Convention heard something rare today -- pessimism.

Two speakers, a congressman and a union leader, warned Barack Obama could lose because of his race. Open talk about racism here is also rare.

Gerald McEntee, national president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, predicted Obama's chances could be tough among the very union members he represents.

``We're going to have to fight with our own members to get Obama elected,'' said McEntee.

He repeatedly cautioned that Obama was not now doing as well as he should be in the middle of the nominating convention. There was no "Biden bounce" in the polls, McEntee warned, referring to Obama's choice of the Delaware senator as his running mate.

``The race is too, too tight. He should be way ahead by now. Too many of our own workers are too close to John McCain.''

McEntee said McCain was popular among blue collar workers because he is a war hero and they might vote for him despite what the union leader said was McCain's poor record on social issues.

He also said union workers might not vote for Obama because they believe he is a Muslim-- or because he is black.

``That's bull---," he told the crowd, bringing many to their feet. "You ask them, 'Are you going to give up your house and your job and your children's futures because he's black?' You have to tell those people to get their heads screwed on right.''

U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (D-12th) warned the delegates that Obama had to rely on "traditionally unreliable voters" to win in November. He said he meant young people who, while enthusiastic about the candidate now, usually do not turn out to vote in general elections.

Holt, too, brought up race.

"Yes, there will be people who will not vote for Barack Obama because they are closet racists," said Holt.
Obama doesn't NEED to say it when he has his speakers at his convention doing for him...

Now go back to other articles you googled and see how it's the same from the press, the blogs, and other "party officials"...
