Default Barack Obama - New Party candidate

SNAGGED!

For months, people have been clamoring that Obama's a socialist, but their supporters just complain it's nothing more than smears...

Well not so fast complainers...

Anyone remember "The New Party"?...Probably not...

Quote:
The New Party was founded in the early 1990s by Daniel Cantor, a former staffer for Jesse Jackson's 1988 presidential campaign, and by sociology and law professor Joel Rogers as an effort to break with the largely unsuccessful history of left-leaning third parties in the United States.

The party could best be described as social democratic in orientation, although party statements almost invariably used the terms "small-d democratic" or "progressive" instead. Its founders chose the name "New Party" in an effort to strike a fresh tone, free of associations with dogmas and ideological debates.
social democratic?...

Let's see what THAT is...

Quote:
Social democracy is a political ideology of the left and centre-left. It emerged in the late 19th century out of the socialist movement, and continues to be influential in many developed and developing nations. It advocates the creation of a democratic welfare state that combines capitalist and socialist institutions and practices. Unlike others on the left, such as Marxists, who seek to challenge the capitalist system more fundamentally, social democrats aim to reform capitalism democratically through state regulation and the creation of programs that work to counteract or remove claimed injustices. Some consider social democracy to be a moderate form of socialism, though others reject that designation.

Historically, social democratic parties advocated socialism in the strict sense, achieved by class struggle, and the original usage of the term "social democrat" reflected this. In the early 20th century, however, a number of parties of the left rejected revolutionary and other more traditional forms of socialism and went on to take more moderate positions (the split with the revolutionary socialists being particularly acrimonious).
So social democrats do the same thing people like Che Guevara and Fidel Castro did, but with a pen instead of a sword...They are SOOO far left that they actually disagree with the traditional Democratic Party...

But what does this have to do with Obama?...

Glad you asked...

Let's see who the New Party candidate was for the 1996 Illinois State Senate...we'll use the archived link from the New Party itself (because they whitewashed their site so you won't know about it and their candidate can win)...as you can see, New Party members were running under the banner of Democrat so they could actually have a shot to win races...Like the way Ron Paul runs as a Republican and Dennis Kucinich runs as a Democrat...

October 1996 Update

There you have it folks...Barack Obama...Socialist...documented...

Now, of course, the next question...

Will the MSM report it and, at least let the public decide if that's the kind of candidate they want for president?...

More proof...

From the November 1996 edition of "Progressive Populist's" magazine...

Quote:
New Party members and supported candidates won 16 of 23 races, including an at-large race for the Little Rock, Ark., City Council, a seat on the county board for Little Rock and the school board for Prince George's County, Md. Chicago is sending the first New Party member to Congress, as Danny Davis, who ran as a Democrat, won an overwhelming 85% victory. New Party member Barack Obama was uncontested for a State Senate seat from Chicago.
Even the Chicago Branch of the DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS of AMERICA has Obama as part of it!!!!

New Party Update

Quote:
The Chicago New Party is increasely becoming a viable political organization that can make a different in Chicago politics. It is crucial for a political organization to have a solid infrastructure and visible results in its political program. The New Party has continued to solidify this base.

First, in relation to its infrastructure, the NP's membership has increased since January '95 from 225 to 440. National membership has increased from 5700 in December '95 to 7000. Currently the NP's fiscal balance is $7,000 and receives an average of $450/month is sustainer donations.

Secondly, the NP's '96 Political Program has been enormously successful with 3 of 4 endorsed candidates winning electoral primaries. All four candidates attended the NP membership meeting on April 11th to express their gratitude. Danny Davis, winner in the 7th Congressional District, invited NPers to join his Campaign Steering Committee. Patricia Martin, who won the race for Judge in 7th Subcircuit Court, explained that due to the NP she was able to network and get experienced advice from progressives like Davis. Barack Obama, victor in the 13th State Senate District, encouraged NPers to join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration. The lone loser was Willie Delgado, in the 3rd Illinois House District. Although Delgado received 45% of the vote, he lost by only 800 votes. Delgado commented that it was due to the NP volunteers that he carried the 32nd Ward. Delgado emphasized that he will remain a visible community activist in Humbolt Park. He will conduct four Immigration workshops and encouraged NP activists to get involved.
Now can someone please tell me why the mainstream media can't F*CKING report on this and it has to be found less than 40 days before a damn presidential election that one of the candidates belonged to a socialist party?...Isn't ANYBODY doing their job?!?!?!?!??!...

Isn't the Democratic Party a socialist party because it promotes nationalized healthcare?

Isn't the Republican Party socialist because it's members support Social Security and continue to cash their social security checks...

I would say so. I don't see the need for alarm yet. The only thing this thread has going for it at the moment is fear associated with the word socialism without people knowing what the hell it means.

They ARE doing their job by not doing stories on this kind of right wing propaganda. Oh no, the "S" word! Everyone get out your McCarthyism handbook and start reporting your neighbors!

Economists pondering our future have stated we will probably evolve from Capitalistic Republic into Capitalistic Socialism or Socialist Republic.
And what that means in today's (since the eighties) terms is that Socialism for protection and other aspects of society never worked. Capitalism nor Republics do very well with touchy feely stuff like health care.
They predicted we would evolve to where Capitalistic values will run military, commerce and some other things. Socialistic values will come into play for the health, retirement, and many others.
