The republican plan wanted to have a hands off approach to executive compensation originally. And I don't know what you mean by blew the White House meeting. From what they say he was actually engaged while McCain again spent his time trying to not look at Obama. Of course if you lie like McCain does it must be hard to face the man.

I am operating with fewer brain cells then I used to have. So I need to throw a little rhetoric out there once in a while. Glad you noticed my efforts.

Another (cough, republican, cough) poster said that Obama was looking for "cheap political points", cause obviously the executive compensation packages would agreed to be limited by both sides... I questioned how things would actually play out... And it looks like I was right... Quote:
From "the fundamentals of our economy are strong", to trying to do damage control on "what I really meant to say was", to stating that he wouldn't change a thing regarding MCCAIN'S efforts to bring about the deregulation that helped cause this mess, to saying he would fire the SEC head. Obama reached out to McCain for a bipartisan approach, and McCain's response was the infamous "let's put off the debate to concentrate on the bailout package" (ever hear of doing business over the phone?)... Quote:
If anything, that was something you should ask the REPUBLICANS about... Democratic sources said that House Minority Leader John Boehner threw a wrench into the meeting when he brought up issues from conservative Republicans that negotiators thought had been settled.'Contentious' White House meeting ends with no deal - CNN.com |

McCain was not in attendance at the resolution meeting.
How was he so constructive in it? ![]()

I'd laugh silly if the situation weren't so damn serious.I think at this point we're at a scarier place than we were when they said they needed to spend the 700B. Maybe that's their strategy, just scare us into giving up even more money. Tomorrow they say 2 trillion, we say no problem, ![]() |

Not only claiming credit-a few moments ago (may be rerun from earlier today?) he jabbed Obama and the Democrats for failure of bill to pass.
The Republicans only got a third of their caucus to vote for the bill! Arrogance an stupidity on McCain's part.
