Default Obama contradicts earlier statements on troops dying in vain

Sounds nice...

Except that exatly the OPPOSITE of what he said during the speech he likes to tell us so much about when he says he was against this war from the beginning...

Barack Obama's Iraq Speech

Quote:
The consequences of war are dire, the sacrifices immeasurable. We may have occasion in our lifetime to once again rise up in defense of our freedom, and pay the wages of war. But we ought not — we will not — travel down that hellish path blindly. Nor should we allow those who would march off and pay the ultimate sacrifice, who would prove the full measure of devotion with their blood, to make such an awful sacrifice in vain.
"What's that?...I have to talk to ALL of America now instead of people who agree with me?...

Damn...Now I gotta pretend I'm something I'm not again...Time to throw that "old Obama" under the bus"...

I opposed the 'occupation', but supported wiping out Saddam's army once and for all. I don't see where we had to sacrifice our troops just to keep medieval savages from murdering each other in the cities, I would have just kept them sealed in until they got tired and began to trickle out and be easily disarmed.

Something would have to give sooner or later, regardless of who sat in the White House, realpolitik goes on, regardless, and I certainly think George W. is incompetent, but, you go with you got at the time, and pulling out now is way dumber than finishing it. Obama is clearly over his head on this, and will be a bigger disaster than McCain on foreign policy. Compounding George W.'s corruption and incompetence with Obama's is insane.

Well this is so silly. Everyone loves the troops. Obama does too.

Same here,I also opposed the occupation but supported the elimination of Saddam's war machine. Unfortunately...to achieve this end, some occupation is necessary! But nation building? NO!

I'm sorry but "W" is a high functioning moron..McCain has flipped from Maverick to populist and I believe McCain is unsound and dangerous! He may "flip" again at a moments notice. If he does get elected,we will have far more to worry about than the deficit.

Iraq was the force that was keeping Iran in check. When we took it over and yes "occupied" it, it was necessary to STAY there untill Iran was re-checked. So why are we still there?.........duh.
And by the way this "surge" Obama wants in Afghanistan......We don't want to put more "targets" on the ground there but if you dummies would look at a map you would again realize that our "backup forces" are EXACTLY where they should be. But I guess like Murtha said maybe if we moved them to Okinawa..........or as Obama says we should "move them home" which is even further away from where the possible NEED for them is. By the way........guess what the military does when its not fighting......they spend time and money on TRAINING and if you haven't noticed they are getting the best training possible in the warm zone that they are in to prepare them for the HOT zones to come.

Actually, Maybe if we had real leadership we wouldn't have to be babysitting alone. And how long do we pay out 10 billion a month because of our fear of a bunch dooofs. I don't reall care what Iran does. You guys over inflat their power to build fear. Screw Iran. We could keep them hopping from hear. Get over it. When did Iran become a serious superpower? Did I miss something? Remember Allies? Its something we used to have. Look it up.

The allies that failed to hold up thier end of the bargain and enforce the UN mandated agreements that they are a party to and instead chose to intentionally violate those agreements for MONEY?? Those allies?? We didn't leave our allies, our allies left us. They chose to ignore their responsibilities and instead just try to make a buck off of someone else's suffering. We chose to do what's right and follow through on our responsibilities, they chose not to. SKROOM!!
