Remember them?...The media tried to pull a fast one and pretend to document Kerry leading in the polls early so voters who were voting later in the day wouldn't bother...

...until it was found out they were wrong and Bush won by 3 million votes...
I really wish they wouldn't do election polling. But I guess it's sort of a check and balance. But I wish they would do one the day after maybe.
And the reason I don't like them is because I love a good mystery. I get all excited about the election. I watch the TV etcetera, and some guy comes along and spoils my fun by predicting the outcome.
Before the close election of 2000, they were pretty good at their guessing game (with the exception of Truman and speaking of modern times). And that was a bummer for me.

SOAPBOX TIME!!!!

Then support Vote By Mail, like those of who are blessed enough to live in Oregon get to use. If VBM was a nationwide practice, we could set laws in place that guaranteed that EVERY vote got counted and that no election results would be released prior to a predetermined date. This way, everyone's vote has as much influence as everyone else's, instead of the votes of those further East carrying greater influence. VBM is also cheaper, easier, enfranchises rural voters, physically handicapped people, "shut-ins" and people who are just plain too busy to have to schedule time to vote (like working moms). Call your state reps. and election officials and ask them why your state isn't using VBM. Ask them why they ae wasting your tax dollars on an antiquated voting system. Ask them why they support dienfranchising people by not giving them the easiest and most convenient voting system ever devised.

Vote by Mail is an option available in most states, but I prefer going to polls on election day. There's something about it that just makes it more important to me.

Another point on polling data, is anyone concerned that the polling data is off because the polls only survey those with landlines? The vast majority of the youth vote is't bound by wired lines. As evidenced by the increased activity of the youth, the polls are skewed towards the older populations and thus skewed towards Republicans.

Polls are NEVER accurate because the polling cos. simply cannot afford to sample a large enough % of the population to make them accurate. The sampling rate that the big dogs (Rassmussen, et al) use is pathetic. Then they justify it by telling us that the sample size is sufficient. Talk to a real statistician and they'll tell you that the sample sizes being used (1500 out of 30 million people) are not sufficient.
Polling methods are weighted against people who are not home and are working full time.
They are weighted towards people who are home more often.
They are weighted against people without phones.
They are weighted towards people who are willing to take the time to answer the questions being posed.
They are weighted against people who have a "mind your own business mindset.

I can go on and on and on about the number of flaws in the polling methods used in this country.

Will that happen?...Who knows...But I'm guessing the odds for someone with the most chance to screw up would be Biden...

I bet they are grilling him as we speak. I hope they don't cramp his style too much. I love hearing him speak on a subject he is passionate about-gaffs and all!

At least Biden is honest, unscripted, and answers reporters questions...

You left out "career politician", "member of the 'Good Ol' Boys Club'", "classic representative of the 'party first, nation second' mentality", "walking time-bomb for doing/saying something stupid" and just plain "Mr. Political Business as Usual".

Everyone's looking at Gov. Palin, but no one's paying any attention to the fact that the Dems. (the party for change) picked a stuck in a rut, dyed in the wool, party politics first, old school, establishment bound guy. No change, just another business as usual politician. Never take on the issues in your own party, never cross the party line in any substantial way, just another career politician who's in it for Power and Party.

And McCain is one of his dear friends.
They have both had long careers. Their views differ on the details.
What caught my attention is he is definitely pro union, and that's a plus for me.
