To rebut rumors, Palin says daughter, 17, pregnant

Quote:
ST. PAUL (Reuters) - The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin's five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, McCain aides said.

"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us," the Palins' statement said.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support," the Palins said.

The Palins asked the news media to respect the young couple's privacy.
This will gain some traction from the smear merchants who will be judge, jury and executioner...

The press did leave Chelsea alone...I imagine they will for Bristol, too, but I'm a little more skeptical...

I just think that is funny when it happens to those who are judgmental proclaiming "Moral Values" to make themselves feel superior in some way. I realize its biology that makes these things happen. Not moral deficiency. The only reason the right gets attacked for these things is because the spend so much time acting morally superior. So it makes for a better story. If they didn't see themselves as being more faith grounded etc. it wouldn't be that interesting at all. In fat I don't care if she is or isn't. Maybe she is trying to beat moms record.

Here's Sarah Palin view on the news of her daughter's pregnancy...(From above's source)...

Here's Barack Obama's view if the same thing were to happen to one of his daughters...

I've got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals.

But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby. I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16.
One looks at this situation like it's a blessing...The other one looks at it like it's a curse...

Statistically speaking it's a curse to have a child so young. Generally the parent isn't prepared financially or in terms of maturity. It's not mature to enter into a marriage without reasonable certainty that it is forever. Something that a person around the age of 18 doesn't have.

We should be teaching our children to be making responsible decisions. Abstinence only doesn't do that. Governor Palin's plan doesn't do that.

Cnredd, you want to make this political, but Barack has specifically asked that it not be out of respect for Palin and her daughter. But since you feel it needed, you can see that Barack is raising his daughters with more information than Palin did. You can see that Barack isn't trying to limit his daughters futures, he actually trying to help them make wise decisions, something Palin's daughter didn't do (generally speaking).

They just ask them to be smart, truthful, honest, and show a modicum of good sense." Ann Richards, Former Texas Governor
