A president (nay, no one), can unite people who simply choose not to be united...

The people who constantly point out Bush's quote as being a "uniter; not a divider" have a rooting interst on not being united...It's the same as saying "Ha ha!...I refuse to be your friend and it's you fault!"..

Also, his comments were made before the 2000 election...After that debacle, millions of Democrats personally blamed Bush for "stealing" the election and had no intention of being united whatsoever...In fact, to this day, many still hold that grudge...

How could anyone unite people with that mindset?...
Quite right...
You don't hold a claim to the ability to being able to unite people, and "steal" an election. And add further insult by claiming you have a mandate. He stole the election, and rubbed Democrats faces in it. Who would want to unite behind that?
Obama, hasn't even made it to the presidency and folks are already speculating on what he will do, and won't do....how is that fair?
Wait until he's had the chance to do "something", then make judgements....not before!

George Bush promised in 2000, that he would bridge the partisan divide....he did not.

He had no foreign policy experience. None. Zip. Yet, that didn't prevent 1/2 the country voting for him.

He was no military leader....and was a lackluster military man, often AWOL.
So no cigar there, either.

As far as I know, Bush's only experience in the economic world was running several businesses his father got him into, "into the ground"...and he owned some Texas minor league baseball team, that produced Nolan Ryan. Big whoop.

So, Obama may not be as experienced and well-versed as Hillary Clinton, or John McCain, but he is at least as qualified as George Bush was, for the office. And given the fact that he is bright, intelligent, and articulate, bodes well for his tenure.

So in other words: "Our guy is as unqualified as your guy was, so we're gonna show you and be just as dumb as you were and vote for him anyway."

Now then, would you like to try and aswer the questions instead of turning them into an opportunity to launch into another anti-President Bush screed??? We all know that you hate the man, we got the picture. Now, would like to expound on the qualifications of Sen. Obama? "bright, intelligent, and articulate" does not qualify one for POTUS, I'm "bright, intelligent, and articulate", but does that mean that I'm the guy you're going to vote for??? So please, toss out the partisan crap and educate us on the qualifications of Sen. Obama....

Speculation is based on his razor thin record and previous actions...

He's been caught on multiple reversals, thrown half of the people he's known under the bus, and pandered to one side of the country while insulting the other half...

Leopards...spots...

Great attitude...Let's give the most important job in the world to someone with no experience and see if it works...

You keep repeating yourself...is it because you like the way the words appear on the page?
George Bush was less prepared for the presidency...but the sheeple voted him in twice, and now they are reaping the whirlwind.
Don't get mad and all upset if an articulate black man, who truly represents the American Dream, without question...a lowly, average interracial kid, somehow manages to transcend his lot, and gets to higher learning with the top echelon, goes back to the inner city, works his way in city government to elected state office, and onto the US Congress, and now ascending to the highest office in the land...
The naysayers came out of the proverbial woodwork and proceeded to castigate, view microscopically, and question every mole and crevice, and still he's favored to win....must keep y'all up at night, wondering how did we get here.

I already answered your question....do you have a problem with comprehension?
His qualifications must be enough that millions of people have bought into what he is selling....TENS OF MILLIONS....to the tune of 200+million dollars.
And I somehow think that the electorate voting for him is slightly more in tune and in touch with "reality", than you.
Because you see, it's a foregone conclusion that the tens of millions of Obama supporters will be voting for him, in spite of what you think of his qualifications.
Now, is that stupidity or naivete on their part...remains to be seen...until then...get into some acceptance, that all of your protesting and ranting and raving is amounting to a hill of beans. :g oodnight

You could say the very same thing about Hitler, Khomeni, Jim Jones, Rev. Moon, or any other propaganda machine...

Quantity says nothing about quality...

Knowing how to make sheep follow is not the same as being qualified to lead...

You're likening him to those despots? Are you crazy? You'd have to be...excuse me, but you are not raining down on my parade, and my witness to history being made...I'm sorry it doesn't jive with your expectations of a continuation of the status quo....I, and millions more had to put up with the insult of a Bush presidency for 8 years...the least that you can do is to do the same.
Talk to somebody that cares about the nonsense you're babbling about. Not me.

There is no room here for the race card. You need to understand that it is not about the color of his skin. Obama could be purple and Americans still would question his character based on his past associations and dishonesty. Obama's a clever snake, just like the majority of the others who get elected. Click on my sig link and you will be enlightened...

By the way, Obama does not represent the American Dream...nor the AmericanDreamer

So being popular is enough to qualify someone as President??? Based on that standard, we should elect Michael Jordan as POTUS.

When in reality the voters heard the message loud and clear and rejected it.
