At the same time, I believe, Michelle stuck her foot in it. She said something political and, yes, in some people's minds, unpatriotic.
You play you pay.
What is unpatriotic about saying you were disappointed and now are not about peoples interest in the electoral process.

Please explain that one.

I can't speak for all those detractors, obviously, but I think some remember the Vietnam protest days and those who were appalled at the flag burning and "FU, Uncle Sam" slogans, are still sensitive.

I thought spreading dirty laundry and lies was part of the political game.I don't like it.."we" don't like it but dat's da way it is. All we can do is "expose" the lie in time before it does it's damage.Candidates often fail because their damage control dept reacts far too slowly..

Politicians do it all the time.
If they didn't want her words to be scrutinized, someone should have persuaded her to keep it zipped.

I agree thats why I pointed out that this was a cheap attack.

If Michelle Obama says something that is false and she gets hammered for it. So be it. But when people are trying to say she is not one of us because of her remarks. Well That is just a little vulgar if you ask me.

I pose the question, "So who you thinks gonna win the election?"- all the time when I'm traveling and get to chatting with someone. About half the time someone always pops up and says Obama is a Muslim (one lady even informed me that "Muslim priests" were looking for him because they didn't like it when one of their own converts. ) And the second thing that's mentioned a lot is " His wife hates America."
Hopefully, not many of these folks will be able to find their way to the poles.
I may or may not vote for Obama, but I would hate to think he lost because of the Willy Horton factor.

So why would you attack a candidates wife?
Because she is doing her own attacking on a public stage.

Especially when it is a false attack.
What has been false?

She was talking about the fact that people are coming out to vote in record numbers.
She was talking about what a lousy horrible country she believes this is and how she had never been proud of it until her husband said he was running for President, in spite of how well this country has done for her and her husband.

She is campaigning, or witnessing, for him. They are attacking her credibility.
She lost her credibility all on her own, others are merely commenting on it and being told to shut up by Obama.

He's a fool if he believes he can send her out to spout this garbage and then demand no one speak out about it. Who does he think he is?

If she makes statements that CAN be easily misconstrued,
Her statements have been quite clear, stated with great zeal and emphasis, she is a trained lawyer, highly educated, she knows what she is saying and that it will be taken on it's words.

or if he wants her to be a non-issue, then he needs to get her out of the campaigning game.
That's probably the best thing he could have done but the cats out of the bag now. And rumors are flying all over the place there is something about "railing about whitey" still to come.

Let me ask you. Given the lives lost for the right to vote do you find it disappointing that so few vote? If all of the sudden you see thousands voting that normally don't. And you believe its because of your husbands positive message. Wouldn't her remarks be in better context then you just used? I suppose you can see whatever you want to.
