Obama Takes Superdelegate Lead For The First Time

Barack Obama has taken the lead in superdelegate endorsements for the first time, marking a potential turning point in the endgame of the Democratic primary.

Obama picked up four superdelegates Saturday, after rounding up nine such endorsements the day before. The gains erased Hillary Clinton’s once-imposing lead among the party officials and insiders who play a key part in selecting the nominee.

“I think it is an encouraging sign that our camp is making progress that superdelegates are moving in our direction,” Obama said Saturday in Bend, Ore. “They are looking forward to resolving this contest as soon as we can so we can pivot and start talking about John McCain and the general election.”

Clinton lost two superdelegates to Obama as well, putting the count as of Saturday afternoon at 275 for Obama, 270 for Clinton.

The milestone is important because these are the Democrats who will decide the nomination for president, and Clinton would need their support by a wide margin to win. Obama has a big lead among pledged delegates, but neither candidate can win the nomination without support from the superdelegates.

It looks like Hillary is still "in it to win it"..she has three weeks left to work a miracle.

Today, as I sat across from a secretary who was on the phone 'on hold', we started chatting. Before long I brought up the election.
"So who you gonna vote for?"
She snapped, "Well, I'm not going to vote for that Obama! There's something not right about him. Did you hear what his wife said?"

But what I wondered was if this lady would actually vote.
Will the Obamikins actually vote is another question.
The Republican party's job from here on, as I see it, is to make people so afraid or mad, that they will turn out in droves to vote against Obama. And make no mistake, they will use everything in the political nasty book-including, but not exclusive of, race.
Otherwise, I just can't see as many enthused McCain supporters as Obama supporters.
There is already a sense of disgust and frustration from Hillary supporters. I think a lot of Republican women would have voted for her in the privacy of the voting booth.

I had lunch with some of my friends last week,One of them..an Independent... "hates" Obama! I asked him what he did not like about Obama? His answer was swift and candid..he said Obama is a black man! I said..hey..I never knew you were prejudice. He said that he was prejudice and dam proud of it.Three of the friends present at the lunch were Republican. Two are staying home in November. People who think the base is solid with McCain are mistaken.I have known these guys for over 20 years and they are hard core Republicans.
Two of my friends at the lunch are Democrats, one supports Hillary and the other is for Obama.God only knows what the Hillary supporter will do if Obama gets the nomination.

I think there will be defections from both parties, possibly more defections than in any past race.A lot of people are asking the same question, who will people "really" vote for in the privacy of that voting booth?
