DNC Superdelegate Puts His Vote Up For Sale

Quote:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CBS13) ― In this tight battle for the democratic nomination we've heard a lot about the candidates courting super-delegates.

But, one superdelegate is courting the candidates. He says he'll sell his vote for a price. A very high price: $20 million.

Sacramento superdelegate Steven Ybarra says that eight-figure price is peanuts for the presidency.

When asked whether it was right to offer what is clearly a quid pro quo?

"Yeah, absolutely. People do it all the time," answered Ybarra.

But, not like this. Not in public, and not for such big bucks.

It begs the question. Is he crazy?

"Nobody's said I'm crazy," said Ybarra.

Ybarra wants every cent of the $20 million to go toward registering and educating eligible Mexican-American voters, who he calls the key to the white house.

"And I keep asking the question of the DNC, 'why won't you earmark money for these voters?
' And their answer is, 'oh, we can't do that' which is a lie," said Ybarra.

With the Democratic National Committee saying 'no,' Ybarra waits for a 'yes' from already cash-strapped Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

Would he accept less? How about $5 million?

"No, $5 million is nothing," said Ybarra.

It might be a moot point as neither campaign has come calling.

"No, I think most people right now are looking at this as some crazy guy in California because after all I'm from California," said Ybarra.
Ummm...Yeah, you moron!...

Of the multiple sick things one can find in politics, this is clearly in the upper eschelon...

As long as each is completly documented. Why not rob the party or the candidates they do it to use all the time. That is why out of no where we have these Superdelegates.
I guess I am expessing my total dismay over the political system in America today!

I hear three got off the fence and went to Obama yesterday. And I doubt any will take him up on the offer. So maybe he will stay home or just do as it should be done. Given to the most popular of the two by votes counted.

Look for changes in the Superdelegate structure soon after the election. This has been an embarrassment for the D's. The R's also have their version of "Superdelegates" but the structure and rules are different. When partisans place their complete trust in the party they are rewarded with a power grab from within the party..

Isn't the guy making a good point? I give him credit for sticking it in the parties face. The system is screwed up.

Yes it is Mikeyy and like Spencer says look for it to change again. I believe it was set up for this one election only. The DNC has one desire and it seems to be Obama who I think won't win against McCain.
Like I have said in the past at th every top of both parties is the same faces and names working together to do the wealthy, the Military Industrial Complex
calling. We don't have a two party system in truth.

In a sense, most of our votes are for sale. Many people vote their pocketbooks and if that is their main criteria, they sell their votes to the highest bidder..

I can't stoop to that as a way to use my single vote. But an IOU... lol

But this does show and Spencer pointed out the GOP has their own, the power each party has. Which in my thinking isn't good for America, period.

Any vote should be for the majority of the Nation. And to follow the party right or wrong just shows one is blind to the truths of the wealthy and the ones with power to rule us.
We are in this entire mess (economy, war, housing mess and all others) because the powers that are decided for us.
And if one believes the polls the average citizen has no power except $! And anyone has to be blind and deft to not see the ones who rule are not hearing the citizens.
