And so..the chickens have come home to roost. Obama's 20 years of silence proves that he did not object to Wright's anti- American racist rhetoric. When this was "exposed" for what it really is..Obama condemned Wright's rhetoric for political advantage.

Obama had disavowed himself of Wright's words - and today has said, in no uncertain terms, that Wright's statements were divisive, destructive and the antithesis of what Obama stands for. Jesus. What more can the guy DO? He can't go shoot the fucker. My minister holds many political stands which I do not agree with him on (he actually supported publicly our city becoming a sanctuary city). That doesn't mean that he's not a spiritual leader of knowledge and compassion. I can certainly understand why Obama wouldn't leave his church (a pretty big deal in my opinion) because of the political stance of his pastor. |

After all is said and done it really makes no diff to me. I don't think this is Obamas beliefs. I still need to make a choice. And this story hasn't put me off Obama.
We still have 3 candidates. Obama and McCain have embrassed wacko religious leaders. Now Barack has thrown his under the bus. Will McCain do the same. I doubt it. I think this whole thing is inside baseball. How much does any of your pastors really guide your beliefs. I will let Obama speak for Obama. Just like I do all of them. |

I've said it before and I will say it again...this an issue of "judgement". Does Obama's judgement matter? Only to some of us...Obama has stated this is a valid political issue. It's a free country..one man would listen to this anti-American racist rhetoric and remain an active member for 20 years. Another man would hear this rhetoric perhaps once or twice before he left that congregation to search for another.
This does not rise to the level of abandoning one's faith, nobody here is saying that! The option of finding another congregation and shepherd that is more in line with one's viewpoint is always available.Obama decided not to exercise "that" option.FINE...but don't tell people that Obama's judgement is not in question when Obama himself said it was a valid political issue. Just because "some" of us are bored with the issue does not mean it's not a valid political issue. I suspect we will begin to "move on" sometime after November.
