Default Hurricane Sandy and the election

I keep hearing about how hurricane Sandy is going to impact the ability of a lot of people to vote. But will it impact the outcome of the election?? With the electoral college in place, the states still decide who gets their votes and if the statewide results are the same, then the election results would be the same.

KBOI djs and guests as well as callers were discussing this this morning. A few points made:

During the great awful Civil War voting went on as scheduled.
Original reasons for 1st Tuesday in Nov -end of fiscal year for farmers and if you traveled a long way (most did) to vote at official voting places Monday wud hav cut into Sunday evening church services.

Some suggested a week end two day voting period.

**If people are not able to vote some arrangements will have to be made.
I don't want to wait till wed or thurs to learn results but we may have to

Not sure if there will be a real difference made, but you can be sure that the losing candidate will put some blame on Sandy for the loss.

I'm expecting the whacko blogosphere to explode with "Government controlled storm used to create a electoral nightmare so that Pres. Obama could declare martial law and stay in office in spite of only carrying 3 states."

There will be less people voting because they have bigger fish to fry trying to get their lives back together.....

It is what it is...

These are blue states basically, and will probably remain blue percentage wise when it's all said and done with.....
