Romney blows off children, does not participate in Nickelodeon special - Sacramento Celebrity | Examiner.com

Every four years, children's cable channel Nickelodeon provides kids with the rare opportunity to have the U.S. presidential candidates answer their questions in the Nick News with Linda Ellerbee special, "Kids Pick the President: The Candidates."

On the show, kids submit questions to each candidate and based on the answers they make their pick for leader of the free world.

This year, President Obama took part in the special and answered the questions, but Mitt Romney did not.

After numerous attempts by Nick News to get former Governor Mitt Romney to participate in the special, his camp declined saying he was unable to fit it into his schedule.

"By answering kids' questions directly, candidates show respect for kids," said host Linda Ellerbee. "We are disappointed that Mitt Romney wouldn't take the time to answer the questions, but are thrilled that President Obama participated in the special."

Deputy National Press Secretary Adam Fetcher tells TMZ, "It's no surprise Romney decided to play hooky. Kids demand details, and I'm sure they want some answers on why Romney could increase their class sizes, eliminate their teacher's jobs, raise taxes on their families and slash funding for Big Bird."

Fetcher ends with this zinger: "'The dog ate my homework' just doesn't cut it when you're running for President."

The Nickelodeon special premieres Monday, Oct. 15, at 8 p.m EST.

So nice of obama, Romney chose to address their parent's, the ones in danger of losing their jobs due to 17% real unemployment, obamacare, failed leadership in foreign affairs, rising inflation and gas prices now double when obama took office. That kinda trumps talking to kids.

Kids are our future...but I guess they're part of the 47% and he will never convince them to take responsibility for their own lives.

And kids' parents vote.

So, the Democrat case against Romeny is that he was mean to his dog and dislikes children?

Oh, give it a rest!

I've always thought that these sort of things were contrived nonsense anyway.

You want to help kids understand what adult concerns are? Show them the Daniel Pearl beheading video and then explain that there are millions of people in the world supporting bearded men all named Mohammed who want to do the same thing to Mommy and Daddy.

Or explain that half of what Mommy and Daddy make by working very hard is taken from them and lots of it if given to people who don't work much at all, even when there are jobs.

Or explain partial birth abortions to them.

Or explain to the little tykes that nothing in nature or history supports for an instant the idea that someone won't make them property of the State before they die.

Or explain that a judge can take almost anything away from them or send Mommy and Daddy to jail on a whim because people have turned over their sovereignty to the courts.

Or explain to them -- and this is most important, that they are children, with largely empty little heads, who should be listening while important adult things are discussed, and not intruding and making a fuss with questions that have been put into their mouths by foolish, nefarious adults.

While the Left wants to talk about any social issue that comes down the pike (because Nickelodeon is as important as Big Bird and much more important than the deficit or jobs), let's look at what Romney was LITERALLY doing instead of answering phony Nick questions...

Romney Pulls a U-ey to Drop by Elementary School

Quote:
Mitt Romney ordered his motorcade to make an abrupt U-turn in rural Virginia today, after zipping by a group of elementary school students waving in the front yard of the school, so he could go back and meet them.

It was the candidate’s decision to make the impromptu stop, an aide said, Romney standing beside Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell as a group of roughly 100 squealing students, who had since retreated inside Fairfield Elementary School, were promptly marched back outside of the school house by an advance staffer.

“Thanks for waving at me as I came by, I decided to come by and say ‘hi’ to you guys,” Romney told the kids, many of whom were fourth- and fifth-graders.

Romney was overheard telling one of the kids that fourth-grade was his favorite.

“I just saw you on TV,” one little girl said to Romney, overcome by excitement and giggling.

Romney, still dressed in a suit and a tie from his formal foreign policy speech he had completed just prior, was visibly amused, laughing with the kids.

One student approached Romney and asked, “Are you Mitt Romney?” The candidate replied, “I am Mitt Romney. And that’s your governor. That’s Governor McDonnell.”
This guy actually deflected some of the attention away from himself to share it with the kids' own local leader....

Think Obama or Biden would do that?...

Quote:
After a boy leaned in and said something to Romney, the Republican challenger said, “Thank you, I appreciate that.”

Romney told McDonnell the boy had told him that if he were old enough, he would vote for him.

McDonnell himself couldn’t help but dole out some life advice to the pop-up receiving line, telling one student, “Listen to your teacher now, and you will grow up to be successful.”

Some of the kids waiting in line to meet Romney were spotted trying to interact with the Secret Service agents – who generally don’t hold conversations while on duty – and others hopped up and down in the grass while they waited their turn.
So while anti-Romneyites are complaining that Romney didn't response to some organized "Let's use the children as proxies" event, Romney decided to spontaneously deal with children directly...

That's what LEADERS do...

OH, the horrors.........

I have to laugh because the left has to stoop this low to get some dirt on Romney. But, when we look at obama he didn't have time to meet with world leaders but he found time to go on the View and Letterman, but that's OK.

After last weeks disgraceful and embarassing debate Obama should also have considered skipping the Nickelodeon appearence and concentrate on not looking like a stoned dumbass.

After trouncing Obama, built up as one of the best debaters on the planet, Romney is supposed to be afraid to take questions from school children? Please.

Naturally Obama readily agreed because schoolchildren are unlikely to pose questions beyond talking points level of understanding. WH press corps, nope, too much danger they might press for explanations beyond "it is the right thing to do." But lecturing to school children, that's just Obama's speed.
