Default Democrats, Obama set fundraising record

Looks as though times are good for Obama in the fundraising department.

This is not surprising. Obama has beat Romney every quarter and month from the beginning on the donations front.

Quote:
The Obama campaign and Democratic National Committee combined to raise $181 million in September, setting a new monthly record for the 2012 campaign.

"1,825,813 people came together to raise $181 million for this campaign in September," the campaign announced over Twitter. The campaign first notified supporters of the haul in an email.

That amount marks the largest monthly total so far for the Obama campaign in 2012. Its previous record for the reelection campaign was $114 million raised in August.

The Obama campaign also announced on Twitter it was nearing its 4 millionth donor of the 2012 cycle. As of Saturday morning, the campaign had received contributions from 3,922,420 different people.

However, the president is not the only one showing fundraising prowess, as his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, is reportedly enjoying a fundraising boost of his own following Wednesday's debate.

The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday that Romney's strong debate performance had helped him bring in $12 million in online contributions since Wednesday.

The Romney campaign and the Republican National Committee, which are also jointly fundraising, have not released September fundraising totals.

I know if I turned off my campaign's credit card verification system so criminals, foreigners, and anyone who wants to illegally donate can do so, my numbers would look good, too...

I want them to raise a gazillion dollars-- and for them to be wasted.

This is one reason I support outlawing almost all limits on campaign spending and donations, that is excessive exuberance is punished.

It's also a great, market oriented way to redistribute wealth.

I always wanted a hard cap on campaign contributions. Say, two or three hundred million. You can tour the country with that and get your message out with that. Besides, elections should not be about who can raise the most. Sure, that does not effect Mitt or Obama, but for independents and lesser-known candidates who do not have money it could certainly hinder their attempt.

Rumors Swirl: How Bad Will The Obama Foreign Donor Scandal Be?

Quote:
Since last week, the news sphere has been buzzing about the possibility of an Obama campaign foreign donor scandal being the big October surprise of 2012. Since the Washington Examiner first reported the story last week, many are asking how the Obama campaign will handle foreign donation allegations expected to go public Monday in a major magazine and national website story. The Obama campaign has already tried to block the story from publication and although the details of the scandal are still under wraps, we do know taxes and unsecured credit card transactions are about to cause a major headache for the Obama campaign.

Just yesterday, we received news the Obama campaign raised a whopping $181 million in September alone, pulling the question of foreign donations even closer to the surface and putting Obama closer than ever to reaching a $1 billion fundraising number.

U.S. President Barack Obama's campaign and the Democratic Party have raised $181 million in September for his re-election effort - their highest monthly total yet of the 2012 presidential race.

The president's campaign said Saturday that the money represents donations from more than 1.8 million people.

Stay tuned.....the story could come as early as Sunday night, rather than Monday morning as originally planned.

Hopefully it will have more factual evidence than the cooked numbers conspiracy floating around by the desperate.

The unemployment numbers are cooked, the problem is we won't have how bad they were cooked until December.

Only the truly partisan think these numbers are real.
