They had an unassailable majority for two years and accomplished virtually nothing except to make things worse. I think that this was the swan song for the Dems. and they are on the verge of dropping to a permantent status of minority party. But I also see the emergence of the TP splitting the conservative side of the aisle. The Reps. are going to end up being the "moderates" and the TP will end up being the conservatives. This will give the Dems. some leverage on those occasions where they can court the Reps. on specific issues. We've seen Congress as a whole moving further and further left and I think that people are seeing that this is not a good thing. With the TP rising up, we're going to start seeing a shift back to our conservative roots (here's the part where our resident liberals start making comments like "Back to the times when women were locked in the kitchen, blacks were locked on the plantation and homosexuals were tarred and feathered for being 'sodomites'.") and a shift back towards fiscal solvency.
