Nebraska's GOP Senate primary: another tea party surprise? - CSMonitor.com

May 16, 2012

A late surge for Sarah Palin's pick for the Nebraska primary could topple yet another GOP establishment candidate, in a race that could help determine control of the US Senate.

Quote:
Until recently, most observers assumed that the front-runner in the GOP primary, Attorney General Jon Bruning, would win the primary and take on Democrat Bob Kerrey, the former US senator and governor, in November.

Mr. Kerrey is reentering politics in an effort to help Democrats retain a key Senate seat, which opened up when current Sen. Ben Nelson (D) announced he would retire.

Update: Nebraska's Deb Fischer Pulls Upset in Primary

Deb Fischer Wins Nebraska Senate Primary - WSJ.com

Quote:
A state senator who had been stuck for weeks in third place in polls has won the GOP nomination for a U.S. Senate seat from Nebraska, continuing a pattern of challengers successfully taking on prominent Republicans in party primaries.

State Sen. Deb Fischer capped a remarkable surge by capturing the Senate nomination on Tuesday. She will face Democrat Bob Kerrey, a former Nebraska senator and governor, in the November election.

May 16, 2012
Ms. Fischer was leading state Attorney General Jon Bruning, who had long been the front-runner, by 41% to 36% with 93% of precincts reporting. Mr. Bruning had won statewide election ...
Someone is really going to have to explain sometime how Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, both of which we're constantly told represent a tiny fading minority of the Republican Party, keep effectively retiring established Republican establishment figures.

It seems that whilst Dems cling to Hope, we're making Changes.

I don't know about Nebraska, but I hope Virginia gets rid of Eric the red. And if Neb is red, it ought to be blue too.

Just like in 2010 the Economic Terrorists Organization ( Tea Party ) is using Social issues such as Gay rights and Abortions to take down their GOP opponents in the Primaries. But they have yet to realize that once the general election rolls around the Tea Party candidates will lose. Remember Christine Odonell.. taking out a long time, popular GOP candidate, only to be sent home in humiliation against the Democrat.

Lugar just got beat in Indiana.. thank you Tea party... That's one for the Democrats.

Nebraska will go For the Democrat in this one too... After 2 years of a Tea Party controlled do nothing congress people are not dumb enough to keep them in power.

The Tea Party is the game changer in American politics and it's not going anywhere. You'll keep voting for the same corrupt bunch of failures year after year and then whine about how things never get any better and blame anyone but the guy you keep voting for every election cycle. Some of us see that there needs to be a change and we're willing to fight for that change. There's almost nothing on the left that's a parallel to the TP and that's sad. We're at least TRYING to fix things while you and the rest of the left (and a big chunk of the right) are happy to see the status quo maintained and perpetuated. When you start being honest enough to look at your own problems with equal effort and start accepting that just maybe there's a problem in your own backyard, then change can happen. Look at PW as an example. I'm one of the very few conservatives here who will "break ranks" and tell other conservatives that they are out of line. You won't find a single liberal here that will do the same. The member who comes the closest to a liberal who willing to call out other liberals is riverrat and she's pretty conservative on a lot of issues and doesn't care who she pisses off. When does the left plan on cleaning up thier own backyard and start getting rid of the rotten apples within thier midst as the TP has been doing??

Economic terrorists? Isn't that better than being an actual terrorist like your OWS members?

And you blame the do nothing Congress on the Tea Party and completely ignore the Harry Reid lead Senate who haven't passed a budget in over 3 years and have completely ignored all of the legislation the House has passed and sent to them. Talk about being brain washed.
