Default Gender-baiting

So now we know what the primary target of the left is in this election - women. They are creating this fake "War Against Women" in order to create an impression that the right is against women. This is utter and complete crap and is the last thing this nation needs. In a time when this nation is in the situation it is in and with the already existing divides here, for the Democrats to work to create yet aonther false way of dividing this nation is really messed up. We've got a group right here that has boght into this lie hook, line and sinker. We on the right are nto against women and the lie that we are is nothing more than a campaign tactic. All the false outrage over contraception is the orost example of this. When idiots start thinking that asking people to pay for elective medication is somehow an attack on women is a flat our lie. The fact that there are people who are actually dumb enough to believe this lie amazes me. With all of the facts to the contrary, there are still people who are so gullible that they will believe this lie. Makes me sad for the people on the left, because this is being done by YOUR leaders, it's being gobbled up by YOU and when if it succeeds, ALL of us will suffer the consequences.

Even if the Left (or the Leftist media) invented the term "Republican War on Women", it's not like women are defensive for no reason. It's not like we heard the term "War on Women" and were like, "My God! The republicans have declared war on us! We'd better vote for Obama again!"

Regardless of what one calls it, we are aware of the rash of anti-woman bills being proposed by republican politicians lately (mostly unsuccessfully, but still).
If they want people to stop thinking they're waging war on women, then perhaps they should chill out with the anti-woman legislation, at least for the time being. It's not going to pass anyway, in the current political climate.

If they're not careful they'll be saying - "You stay-at-home-moms, you're not with us. You catholic women, you're not with us. You women who are more interested in the economy, than worrying about getting free condoms, you're not with us, etc."

It can exclude, more than unite. They might be unpleasantly surprised how many they exclude.

Actually I've seen those. She posted a list of 10 ways Republicans were warring with women. It was stuff like the motion to defund Planned Parenthood, or something like aborting horses while you wouldn't let them Margaret Singer the black population, or something like that.

Did you see what I did with the stilting the information there at the end of the last sentence. All but one of her links are from the radical left, and they all do that.

The imaginative "War on Women" is and already starting to backfire. It will not change Obama winning this November, but in the long run, will hurt the Democrats. Most women are intelligent enough to see right through this sham and do not care to be used as a pawn in some partisan political game.

I don't think it's so "fake" when the Republicans go after issues that intimately effect women.

I especially don't think it's so fake when they hold hearings on women's contraception and NOT A SINGLE WOMAN is invited to speak. Not one

So is it war on women? Well...that depends. After all, it's the right that insist that the left has an ongoing war on Christians.

I really don't think it's a "sham". While it may not be a "war against women" - the GoP does take a stand and certain critical issues that have negative impacts on women's health:

Their war (and I think that is the appropriate term) on Planned Parenthood.

The plethora of anti-abortion legislation going on in Republican majority states.

The divisive issue on covering contraception in healthcare insurance.

When you add to that fact that some of the bombastic big-mouths in their camp (ie Limbaugh) have made clear what they think of women who want contraception....and the GoP has done little to distance themselves from that attitude - what would you think?

Personally speaking, easy availability of contraception is very important to me as a woman. I can understand opposition to abortion, though I usually do not agree with it. But I can not understand opposition to contraception. It is not just a religious rights issue - it's evident in other attempts designed to limit a woman's access to contraception.

So, what would an intelligent woman think?

I, for one, think that labeling this as "gender baiting" is a way of trying to diminish the issue.

I agree, and the repeated suggestion that "intelligent" women "see through" it is merely another attempt by conservatives to diminish women.
Intelligent women value their right to reproductive freedom. They recognize the fact that the GOP launches continuous assaults against it, and that these assaults have, in recent months, become not only more blatant but increasingly bizarre, ludicrous, and far-fetched. It seems to me that the GOP legislators introducing half these bills don't have any expectation that they will pass, but merely wish to establish their credentials as extremist conservatives.
