Obama would not be where he is today without appealing for support within the Black community! He used them just like they used him..how far would he be by now if he had limited his support to only the white community? He certainly would not be a "viable" candidate for POTUS. What worked for Obama was reaching out to the Black community first and then he reached out to the White community in a way that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton "failed" to do. White America rejected both Jackson and Sharpton as racist.
Obama had to appeal to both communities to get to where he is today. Yes..some of his past affiliations will hurt him, that's a political reality but he is doing so much better than Jackson and Sharpton simply "because" his strategy included the white community to a far greater extent than other black candidates for POTUS. Even if he fails to win the nomination, future black candidates will study Obama's tactics to see what worked and what did not work.Obama has severe handicaps, his name alone should have knocked him out of the race long ago because Americans are not only stupid, many remain prejudice and that's just stating a fact! Yes Obama knowingly affiliated himself with a black supremacist church but I believe there are "reasons" why he did this. That is not to say that Obama is not a follower of Christ,he may well be a "believer". I believe "part" of that affiliation was "political",to get his start in the political arena he needed a base and he may have thought this early support was not "realistically" available to him in the white community...I think he did what he had to do to rise to the level he has risen today. If you want to judge Obama or for that matter... "any" black man...walk a mile in his shoes!

I think the best thing going for Obama is the fact he is running against Hillary. If any other viable candidate had been running, he'd be watching the news at home. The true test of his popularity will come if he wins the nomination. As polarizing as McCain is, I bet the news about Obama's pastor is but a tip of the iceberg of the new revelations about him that are gonna come out.

To be honest, this is an incredibly lame story. The barackobama site is set up like a social networking/blogging site like facebook or blogger, anyone can join, and it’s poorly moderated so it relies on people to report offensive pages so they know to remove them. This is like saying blogger or facebook endorses racial violence because the KKK set up a blog/page on their site.

I really don't remember seeing that listed there at all. And I went all through that board, just for the fun of it. I could have missed it....But I don't see how, cause I know how much individuals like you are desperately trying to dig up anything and everything you can so you can critisize Obama every chance you get... Not that I really care either way. Considering that it doesn't surprise me that some group claiming to be this/that group would try to join his blogging portion of the site, forwhatever reason. I mean...How legit is it really? Considering in the media, the Panthers were supposedly against Obama earlier in the primaries? Cause he was too 'white' for their tastes? And they've been part of the group that was upset about Obama not taking time out of his campaign schedual to walk in that Katrina march last month right before the March 4th votes were done? Which reminds me of the McCain and Telemarketer's a month and half or so ago...Nobody had an issue or insisted McCain was guilty by association in regards to their remarks... But to put it simply...In Obama's case there seems to be a lynching mob around every corner looking for a tree to hang him on for anyone else's views/support for him as president... I guess now we'll have to judge every canidate what their character is, by who supports them...Has anyone heard yet who the KKK is supporting for President from the two left over? We know it's not Obama, they made that clear right after Super Tuesday when the press mistakenly thought they were...But it was never made clear who they did support (Hillary or McCain?), so whoever it is must be a real racist eh? Because which ever one of those two who they vote for, must equally be guilty by association? And let's not the other hate groups out there...Who's the Latino hate groups voting for? Army of God? I mean, there's just so many hate groups out there in the US...And we must judge those canidates who have their votes, as 'guilty by association' too...Just to be fair and equal. It's nice to know that ultimately, a canidate is expected to refuse votes now from individuals or groups that 'hate'...Cause that's the message here...That Obama has to be held responsible for any/all who support him and refuse the votes from those ya'll deem 'hateful'...I'd just like to see that mentality applied as equally to the other canidates as well...Not just focussing all of it on the one you desperately want to not get the votes.
