To be truthfull, no one, NO ONE, is ready for that 3 am phone call..... Not republican, not democrat.. NO ONE....

A good President must surround himself/herself with talented people who are ready to call the President at 3 A.M. and provide him with the information needed to make an informed decision.

And,right you are!However,I always thought if a call came in on a red phone only the President would answer? Right or wrong?

The red phone...from a technical standpoint....was ONLY the direct line from Washington to Moscow...

I would imagine an actually emergency phone call would go through the White House switchboard...

A lot depends on the time of day,still..I doubt the President would make any decision on the spot "without" confirmation.
