Talk of Obama-Bloomberg ticket grows

Quote:
U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg talked this week, prompting speculation they may team up politically.

One day after Bloomberg, an independent, officially ruled out a presidential bid, he was contacted by Obama, the Democratic front-runner, and the buzz increased of a potential Obama-Bloomberg campaign ticket, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.

New York City Deputy Mayor Kevin Sheekey did little to quiet such talk Friday after an Obama spokesman confirmed the phone conversation had taken place.

"The man has the ability to finance a campaign. I don't think that's why you choose a vice president. I do think that people are going to be very concerned about the influence of special-interest money in this campaign going forward," Sheekey said.

"I think the mayor is the ultimate swing voter. He is someone who the country is looking at to find out where they will go."
I find this a little strange...

I'm unsure about this, but the timing is pretty bad...The superdelegates haven't officially been tallied yet, and I have a feeling this is gonna dissaude hardcore Democrats and swing back Hillary's way just like the hardcore Republicans side is cooled with McCain...

If Obama picked Bloomberg or for that matter, any white man for VP he would lose the election by a wide margin! I want to believe that racism is dead but I know better. Obama will pick a white female as his running mate simply because a female is more acceptable as a "subordinate" to a black POTUS. Political strategy is sometimes evil but strategy matters! Obama will never pick a white male for the VP position. If he does,I have overestimated his political comprehension.

Unfortunately, I have to agree...

I can see only one way Obama would pick a white male for the VP position. If and it's a BIG if..McCain starts to damage Obama on national security. If McCain is successful in painting Obama as weak on the WoT or foreign policy,Obama may be "forced" to pick someone like Wesley Clark or Senator James Webb. This is precisely why candidates wait till the last minute to annonce their running mate.If McCain fails to damage him on those issues,I believe Obama will pick a white female to run with him.

Keep in mind the ramifications, though...

Picking a guy like Wesley Clark might help for the candidacy, but within two months in office Clark would be ready to put a shiv up Obama's butt...

I know grabbing a VP just for votes leads to a little frustration between the top two in office...history has shown that...but in this case it would be catastrophic...

And that's why I believe Obama would only pick Wesley Clark out of desperation.

I doubt if he picks a woman. Just my opinion. I think that would push some that are willing to vote for Obama over to McCain. There is still a gender divide in this country. As there is a race divide. I think some of those that feel they will take a chance on Obama may be turned off by too many new things at once. Anyway thats my speculation.
